Just bought all the stuff I need to make brake pipes, never done them before so it'll be an education. :nenau

just take them off one at a time and copy them with new stuff. its easy just dont rip it all off then hope to put it back together :D

Gonna start with the two along the back axle, then the one from the flexi pipe to the load sensor thing, then the one from the load sensor going forwards. Don't sound like much does it ?

Some flares are male some female.

Don't forget to fit the nuts the right way around BEFORE you flare the end. :nenau

check out

have a look on youtube for lessons in making brake pipes there is a wrong way and right way to flare a pipe

Got a mechanic in to do them in the end, £110 to change everything on the mot sheet and one extra he spotted. Only problem is, three of them are now leaking at the unions. Tried tightening them up but that's just made things worse :doh
He's coming back Monday to have a look at them. Feel like screaming now, could've ballsed the job up all by myself, and for less money.

s'wot I was thinking. The pipes are moving around in the unions, I would have expected them to be snug. :nenau

Still not passed. Redid the leaking pipes, now the flexi hose over the back axle is split. I suspect the mechanic did it when he clamped it but I can't be arsed to argue with him any more. Got a hose coming tomorrow, £17 + vat, and he's going to fit it as I don't have time. Wonder if he's expecting to get paid :augie

opps

no the pipes shouldnt move in the unions and yes its a fair bet he split the hose clamping it bloody so called spanner monkeys

Finally, it's done ! No idea how it passed because the brakes are shite. Soon as I can feel my fingers I'l have to strip and rebuild the calipers. Worth a workshop entry ?

Mine just failed it`s MOT :(
Abit of welding (dunno where yet) and handbrake.
Hopefully sort handbrake tonight at work but let the garage do the welding (only sure way to get it passed i think.

Mine's in on Tuesday (in Spain it's called an ITV). Haven't seen the car since mid-January as I'm back in England, but my daughter & son-in-law have been using it up & down their extremely rutted & pot-holed track, and they do not treat it like an 18-year old car should be treated i.e. with a bit of respect! Lord knows what sort of condition the various bushes are in (I did replace the front ARB bushes a few months ago), plus the handbrake has resisted all my efforts to improve it's grip - don't know whether my daughter has the strength to pull it on hard enough to satisfy the tester, and if she can, will she be able to release it again!
Think a failure is looming!

I think a combination of bad ground, and bad pedal (fitted a third pedal AFTER sorting wiring, all ok!)
