Hi, I have just got my wifes 1999 Terrano 2 back from the garage where they were going to do some welding repairs to get it through the MOT. Unfortunately, the mechanic thinks that is a waste of time doing the welding as it is so extensive. So, the car is great other than the rust, I am looking for a later model(2004 or 2005) to replace it. Does anyone know of a good one for sale in the region please? I am thinking of keeping the old one for spares-are the parts on 1999 compatible with the later models?
Thanks in advance, Fred
I was thinking of replacing it with an X-Trail but having read some reviews there seems to be a lot of horror stories about them-anybody any experience of them please?

Just how bad is it? Post some photos and let us look. Take a look at my project thread, see the link below. Also look at SNH's project too.

Yes some parts are the same but some aren't. Also you may still have rust problems with a younger vehicle too.

Thanks Jim

I will try to get some photos but the mechanic showed me the damage when it was on the ramp and although it could be done by someone who an do their own welding, I don't think it would be economic to pay someone to do it. It really is a pity because the car is so good mechanically and only done 94k but the repairs needed are beyond my welding skills!!

in my experience 99 is a problem year, some are good others are bad (part of the changeover) but yes post some pics lets see how bad it is, pity you are in Yorkshire but you could always pop down south for a break, Rick

I know someone here who's looking for another project. He's even got a terrano that can be a courtesy car!

Ian

If we do another Terrano it's a SWB heavily modified :thumbs

Gladly advise anyone though :lol
