Okay, they say it comes in three's ... first it was the sump plug, then the oil filter and now it's gear box filler plug that's stuck. I'm starting to think I'm wimpy with all of these stuck things or the previous owner has been over enthusiastic or ... both!

Taking the wise precaution of attempting to undo the gear box filler plug before draining I find cannot shift the bugger. Looking at the drain plug there is some kind of silcone sealant that has previosuly oozed out between the thread and plug: soft, lumpy and pliable. I can also feel (can't see) this around the filler plug. Is this sealant normal and should it be replace after refilling?

I'm off to by a 1/2" breaker bar but working under the car with the wheels on the ground doesn't help much!

Thanks

My drain plug in my old truck is stuck too but nothing will shift that. Lucky you checked the filler first though mate. I was advised by an ex member on here to take it for a good run to get it nice n hot and try again. Might help I don't know.

So I take it you empty and fill via the filler using a pump or just not bother?

I saw a post on here about rear diff oil change and they mentioned filler plug first.

Took it to a garage and he had a vacuum device and took the oil out that way. A few years before that when I had clutch replaced they simply tipped it upside down :lol

That's impressive tipping a Terrano upside down!

Another success. The new breaker bar did the trick especially the telescopic feature with working in confined space. Again using the bar by rocking back and forth helped but thought bar was going to break. Impressive tool.

Perhaps you could pass Daemo the details of the former owner of your truck then Daemo could hire him to look after his unit sounds like a right gorilla. :spanking:
