id say it was related yes, could be an issue with the circut but i bet its just simply the ignition switch is burning out, or has burnt out. Probably playing haywire withthe drive by wire system. new switch is cheap, and pretty easy to replace.

standard common fault as I'm sure you've seen. Just make sure you only buy the ignition switch backplate, NOT the whole barrel.:thumb2

Glen, do you mean the hazard flashers, as in indicators, or the MIL light:nenau
Mil light could be coming on with throttle position sensor problem or micro switch. The dodgy ign switch could be messing with your NATS

im sure ive read on here somewhere that a faulty ignition switch and/or connection can cause electrical issues, such as the ones you describe. so finegrs crossed it is just that, but id also check the fuses, just in case.

Thanks for reply

Ordered part from Nissan £31.65 +vat here wednesday

Out of 10 how easy is it to change has any one got a step by step Method

Like disconnect battery

unscrew plastic cover

Glen

It's about a 15-30 min job.

Remove plastic from around steering wheel. Disconnect the switch backplate electrics.remove immobiliser ring. Undo one screw to remove the backplate (i had to use pliers as I couldnt get a screwdriver in). Then put new one on.

Take the plastics off now and have a look.

Thanks

Just had another look I can now get it to rev now, I had to turn key back a couple of cm it was like it was still trying to turn over making a noise,

its gone from been ok to having loads of play in the thing, new one ordered from Nissan.

Glen

out of ten, 9, very easy. just a tiny bit fiddly undoing the screws, but again its a simple swap job!

cover off

Just took plastic covers off I can only see one screw looks in a awkward place. is there another screw??

it might be one screw yes, an dyes, a bit awkward, but easy, as it only takes a few turns to undo it. I used a small, angled ratched screw driver. Ill see if I have any pics from when i did mine. i would disconnect the battery to be safe, remove all the plastic trim under the steering wheel, locate the ignition switch, undo the screw, pull out carefully, then replace with new one and screw in.

ill post back if i have pics...

Type of head on screw

Is the screw a Xhead or philips it looks tiny do not want to round it off

i THINK its cross head....but im not 100% on that sorry its been a while since I did mine.

job done

ignition back plate switch fitted in the end long nose pliers, used to set the small screw moving, Then a xhead screw driver bit in my fingers. disconected Battery easy job.

Not cheap £37 New, but what would nissan charge just paid my £10 so well worth it,this club Is the best value for money. mx5 owners £40 you get a monthly magazine, but you can wait days for a reply or no reply it has a good workshop section but I think its nice to get advice and your point across as and when you have a problem.
