Obviously didnt do the mod but in my opinion they should have a coil sprung live front axle!
Hate independant suspension on off-roaders, so limiting

I fitted a heavy duty cable with fuses to the rear of the vehicle to supply the second socket for the tow bar and allow battery charging, fridge running etc.
In the 15 years since I fitted it I have used it......

Once :doh

To test it, it seemed a good idea at the time when towing the boat but the wiring on the boat would have been horrendous, and we always start out with a fully charged battery before we start, and never use the boat during the transit. The fridge we don't fill as we buy the food petrol etc at the launch site or very close to, to save the extra weight.

i think of all the things mentioned here so far, the live axle is the only one id want and would make the terrano the best off roader it can be with the best on road performance and reliability in its class.

the other things mentioned to be honest are more than compensated in the 3 litre newer ones.

i think if you had a 3 litre or better still the old r50 3.2 diesel and live axle . you would have a bloody good truck

I agree totally! I think the lwb with a live axle would be unstoppable off-road. The wheel base seemed very good for clearing obstacles without loosing traction, so a live axle axle would make things even better! :)

Should have imported R3M instead of t2,much better truck in my opinion.

mmmmmmmmmmmm live axle :sly
Can anyone find me a link to a how to do it site for the conversion:augie
Still fancy it:naughty

while you rmessing, what about portal hubs for some real ground clearance :naughty

Erm Plank that got to be a unimog axle then, awesome machine in the right hands, overlanders love them.....

there are a few english built vehicles and french out there with portal hubs too, i think simca made one (but don't take my word for it)

you can have a play in the mav if you want :thumbs

but we work on the basis of if you break it you buy it lmao:lol

i have 2 used front tyres and the 4 wheel drive should be working as i have put a new hub on it

What have I modded that should have been standard?
1. Replaced std headlight bulbs with white light bulbs (ad said 100% brighter)
2. Added 4 x driving lamps (2 are 100w halogen bulbs, for off road use only - of course)
3. 4x General Grabber AT tyres
4. Replaced all high level rear brake bulbs from 5w to 10w - brighter than the candles that were in there.

Next - got to replace both lower front wishbones, picked up on the MOT but not issued a ticket for them..

Oh yes..
There was no clock in my car or an outside thermometer. all added now

What thermometer did you use as i am also thinking about fitting one?

Only one from Maplin, exterior and interior sensor with a clock, but it was a Prezzy from my daughter, works Ok had to move the exterior sensor from behind the wing, cause it was showing 23c last week, must be getting some heat from the engine bay.
