just a quick question on weather my terrano is a mk 1 or mk II.
its a 1996 n reg 2.4 square headlight model so i assume its a mk 1.
just need to varify it as i'm gonna order some parts but there are 2 types listed for a 1996.
did they change to a mk II on a 1996 p reg?

Hi Elty your is a Terrano II MK1:thumb2 the later model with twin head lights is the MK2 (up to 1999) the MK3 had square headlights with the indicators in the front of the wings (from 2000-2003 I think it was) then there is the last T2's the MK4 which had a different styled front bumper & most had 17" alloys fitted.
Hope this helps:thumb2

Elty, Some where I posted the two different snap/brake ring part numbers, they changed in mid 1996 I think, I had a square headlight 'n' reg and it was the later type parts, but there was only a couple of weeks in it!

if you can find the snap ring info I posted on here some where, I am sure Shark1e would know where it was, it would help to date yours!

what parts do you need to order?

yes yours is a mk1 with the square headlamps, I have the mk2 that was made from 12/96 upto 10/97 and has a hitachi / bosch engine managment system, the mk3 was the same with all bosch engine managment and the mk4 had another upgrade to the front

mk 1

thanks guys for the info.
i was certain is was a mk 1 but the guy at the motor factors swore blind it was a mk II because of the date of registration 04/1996.
they changed the model in 05/1996.

dont let the Mk 1 Mk 2 thing fool you! as i said in the earlier post depending on what bits there are for ease of explanation only 2 mark 1's an early and a late one but only for certain parts i'e, snap rings, and fuel filters i beleive are also different, so be carefull and dont fall into a headlight shape trap, ts a quick easy answer but may well be wrong for you!

any one know what dates they changed then..

so we can have a better go at what one we've got?

thanks for the tip.was hoping to pull the part numbers off the the bits i want but there is no saying they will match the nissan ones as they aren't genuine ones.gonna ring nissan and give them the engine number and see what they come up with.there are 2 variants of all the bits i want for that year.
its the dizzy cap and rotor arm i want as its been running a bit rough.changed them last september but didn't keep a note of the part numbers:dohthe arguement started when the guy said they didn't fit an egr valve on my motor so its escalated from there.never used this place for parts before and i dont think i will as they dont seem to have a clue.

I think he may be right on the egr valve front if my memory serves me correctly ther is an extra pipe fron the turbo on the later 96 models, and they seem to pull a lot better! we have also had problems seating fuel filters as I think there is a difference in the filter housing, if memory is correct again is it between fuel heater and no fuel heater?

I know small differences but better to be sure you get the right bits!

mines a petrol

no turbo on mine plank as its a 2.4 petrol.it has definatley got an egr valve as i stripped it down yesterday as i had a suspision it was that which was causing my rough running.
the place i normally get my parts from should be open today so i will stick with them.just have to wait a few days as they dont normally carry the parts and have to order them in.

my mistake, i was assuming it was a diesel, despite you allready telling me about the dizzy :doh, the only other main difference i can thnk of is hub spares

dont worry about it mate.
have been up to my local parts shop and ordered them.they actaully worked out cheaper than the other place;)
will have to remember about the hubs if i ever need spares.
