My Brother in Law bought a used Mitsubishi last year and after 3 months or so it started to have start problems. After a couple or breakdowns the head gasket blew. Fixed by supplying dealer and promptly broke down. Ran OK for around 8 months now it will not start again. His Mechanic had a quick look but failed to get it to run.

Now when it does finally get fixed he is getting rid. I have to say it looks in nice condition - not sure how old it is I think a 55 plate.

I must be lucky as I have only had about 3 vehicle breakdowns since 1965. Had a few "only just got me homes" but breakdowns have been few. Touch Wood

Mini 850 in 1968 - Gearbox Drive Failure - nut came loose on end of Gearbox Mainshaft.
Mini 850 in 1970 - camshaft failure due to oil pump drive snapping .
Engine ECU failure in 2000 on a merc 260E (under warranty thank goodness).

That's quality that you even remember the years!!!!! I can't remember what I said 10 mins ago :lol

Tell him to push his junk elsewhere, only Nissan here :spanking:

Such a shame that Mitsubishi have built some really good engines & didn't put any of them in the l200.

Dates etc

Strangely enough my best mate like yourself can never remember years or decades that he did things - not even his Divorce !

I have always been able to remember dates of lifetime events however if you ask me what I did the day before yesterday I might struggle. I can quote the registration number of my first Triumph 102 ETF, My first Honda 250 Dream 2462 YG but I have only a vague idea of the registration numbers of cars I have owned !

What I can do though is quote in chronological order every vehicle I have owned 2 or 4 wheeled!

102 ETF think it still exists ?

Just looked on the DVLA website and details of my old Triumph Twenty-One are listed. Not currently tested or taxed but shows as registered on 3rd April 1955 and is a 350 cc engine!

So does that mean its still alive but not on the road?

Unfortunately not. Just checked an 1988 Astra SRI that I personally scrapped in 2002 and it's listed as untaxed and no MOT details held by DVLA.

Wish I could remember my Honda Superdream and Cortina's registrations lol. First motor bike and car.

If it has not had the scrapped section completed on the V5 then I think it stays on the system. Now of course there is a certified scrapage system by ATF 's.

A lot of vehicles that go to a scrap yards can end up back on the road if V5C/3 is not sent to DVLA by the last keeper you can't always rely on a scrap yard doing it.

my very first car was a bond the second was a austin 1100 dmd789a.

I had a bright red Bond Equipe EWE 176 C back in 1968 based on the Triumph Herald Chassis. It was quite cheap as a 4 year old vehicle cost me around £275. Ran it for most of 1968/9 and sold it as I was working in Germany for 6 months. It made me a profit of about £75 when I sold it to a bloke at R.R. in Derby who kept if for about 25 years ! Its on the DVLA database and not currently Taxed or Tested.

When I camme back from Germany I briefly owned an Austin 1100 in a horrible dark green colour.
