Ive been after something for a bit now and have seen a couple of cheapish mistral's for sale.Never had an auto one before and was wondering what there like with the old mpg and any issues with them as well how much of it is swapable with a same yr say maverick.Ive had manual one's in the past so know the useral one's with rust ect.Im looking at one tomorrow with 178000kph on the clock.

You can't tow as much with slush box. MPG will be a bit less round town. IF the oil has been changed regularly in da box you should be fine , but if if auto box goes sour it will be expensive to fix. So check all the gear shifts are sweet and get it good and hot on test drive and check again for good changes and look underneath for signs of leaks .
Everything else pretty much the same as far as swapability :thumbs
Mistrals can also be more to insure esp Bristol area
Get a quote before you buy, as it could be a false economy.

Out of interest do you know what the towing weight would be as ive got horses and do go out and about at time so towing would be a key factor

No I don't sorry but I think the specs are in the downloads :thumb2 Have a spy in the quick links bit

having owned 2 mistrals , id strongly advise against towing anything as heavy as a horse box , beautifull cars with a few quirks ..... especially the power / economy switch on the gearbox  ....... but I loved mine :thumb2

mistrals

good motors - gearbox Ok when warm.

I pay £430 a year full comp for me and mrs p with full no claims

about 350 miles per tank

regards paulp

Mistral Insurance

You may have to pay more for insurance if its an import ?

If its only rated to pull 2tonnes its unlikely to be any good for towing horse box as most are 3.5 tonnes. Most people around here are using fourtraks or land rovers.

mistrals

Hi Makeitfit

spot on all mistrals are imports

Well went to see this mistral and well what could i say.Was a right lemon i had to remove the dirt before i could see the bodywork and had loads of issues so gave that a miss.oww well the hunt continues

auto mistral isnt 2 tonnes

auto terrano is only 1700 versus 2800 fro manual

3.0 auto terrano is 2000kg v 3000 kg manual

in japan they do not tow over 750kg as such.

that said the original ower of the club has one
and a twin axle caravan at about 1500kg.

realistically would need to check vin plate for
gross vehicle and train weight, subtract to
get trailer max.

the misty box isnt same as fitted to terranos,
it has electronic modes, and dont think could
select every gear manually.

mistral

Hi

TTT2 is correct

The top or overdrive gear is electronic via a transmission control module
(after much searching it is located in the rear ds qtr panel)

also there is a power and hold switch on the dash board which allows you to hold gears for longer when towing
