hey guys, i bogged my mav the other week only to find out there was a crack in the air box, so i brought a snorkel and fitted the whole new cabodle thinking thi would slove it and stop it missing every time i go through a puddle. only today to find out that i went through a puddle and the dam thing starts missing again. i checked all the air intake and everything is fine, i was just thinking is there a sensor underneath thats getting wet and cousing her to miss?
iv put wd40 all over the HT leads so that cant be it can it?
many thanks guys:thumb2

I assume it's petrol then :nenau
In that case there are a few possible culprits. Check dizzy seals and cables are sound. Also the coil pack things .
Rick is your man for petrol, it's ages since I gave them up :lol
Pics please of the install may help.

what version of distributor/coil do you have, if you have the separate coil down at the front, there is enough wire to move it up to the bulkhead, stays drier there, if it is all in the distributor, then tie a good plastic bag over it, there are breather holes in the bottom and water gets in there, clean it all out first, in fact that applies to the separate coil typ as well, Rick

There's always the old marigold trick :D 4 fingers to sparks and thumb to coil pack :thumbs

i dont have any pics of the install at the moment and its absolutley hammering it down at the moment:( i shall try in a sec. um im not sure what it could be as the dizzy has a rubber cover and it all had a good coat of wd so im completely baffled :nenau

Yeh but as Rick said there's a little water snorkel on the dizzy , it's possible to get a shot of wet up it and cause your probs. SAme with the coil pack connections. Lots of water and poor seals can short or arc to earth etc

PS put your truck model and engine in the siggy box for all to see what you got. Makes diagnosis easier for others :)

Easiest way I find is via photobucket or dropbox. They're free and you just copy n paste essentially :thumbs

yep when it gets wet it suffers, move it and as makeitfit says use a rubber glove on the dizzy, Rick

right ok thank you rick, i didnt even have a clue what it was haha. ill try moving it next time im off and take it for a test and let you all know.
thank you very much guys:thumb2

hey rick, i managed to move that thing onto the bulckhead and i took it for a test run. i went through a deepish puddle/ditch and it still started missing again, could this still bne because its still getting wet?:nenau

My mate had a petrol and was 100% standard, never used to have problems wading at some pretty high level water crossings.
