Hello all. I have just become a member and I am looking forward to all that this forum has to offer. I wonder if I am the most Northerly Member, I am from the Shetland Isles? I purchased a Ford Maverick 2.7TD p-reg a year ago. It has always had the same problem, which is as follows. When driving along in any gear the engine feels like it is missing anywhere from 1200rpm up to about 2200rpm it's worst when the engine is under load and accelerating. After 2200rpm the problem seems to vanish!
I have had a read through some of the threads and have done the following, I replaced the Hitachi MAF sensor with a second hand jpb from ebay and the problem remains, when the MAF is unplugged there is a huge dip in power as I would expect. I removed the air filter all together to see if this made any differance, but still the same problem.
I then thought that I would try the Mini Filter that I have read about. I followed the guide un-bolted the Banjo bolt carefully as per instuctions, there was no spring and I think no Filter. The wire I was using for the Hook could find nothing, it was quite easliy able to go to a depth of 3.5" into the pump. Is this normal? Is the filter this far down into the pump?
Any help with my Engine Missing or the Mini Filter would be very welcome.
Kind regards
Allan
