hi guys

the arse of my truck seems to be sitting lower than usual
just wondering if the springs have seen better day as i have towed the caravan with it a few times and i think they are finally shot !!

earlier this year i fitted some spring spacers to raise the truck up by 2" and just wondering if i fit the milners 20% stronger springs will that cause any adverse effects ?

apart from perhaps lifting the truck to its original height ?

If you dont carry much wieght around I wouldn't bother. They'll make your back end so hard the only suspension will be the tyres :lol
Whats the height at the back measured to the arch? You probably just need to turn your bloody torsion bars down a bit :doh
Get some LWB springs and they'll effectively give you a lift of about an inch on a SWB and not be so hard.
I've got some as it happens :sly:naughty

.

hi pete

my truck is lwb and i cant turn the torsion bars down at the front as the wheels will touch on the inner wing by the mud flap `was when i turn

in fact the drivers side wheel already touchs at the mo and im only running
31 x 10.5 x15 KL71'S on hilux alloy wheels no wheel spacer and the offset isnt too much

the back of the truck looks like its sagging with only my tools and a few tyres in the boot

i'll pop out and measure it quickly

.

the truck is approx 54cm from the centre of the wheel to the wheels arch on both sides and is 90cm from the ground to the wheel arch

does this sound about right ?

I should have asked you to do the front at the same time, oops :augie
31s will be touch and go if you've still got mud flaps on by the way
No point me measuring mine :lol
Obviously new springs will restore original ride ht, but the +20% stronger ones will be well hard.

look at the bumpstops, they will probably be missing, they are part of the suspension not just stops as they soon take up the weight, they are very expensive so if they are missing look to a breaker, that where I bought mine. regards bri

.

the mud flaps are gone the tyre actually touches the body right on the corner but only on the drivers side at the front when on hard lock having said that the shock absorber does need repacing.

i'll pop out and measure the front now

keep your eyes peeled

.

both sides have the bump stops bri and the front measures 88cm from the ground to wheel arch on both sides so is a little bit lower at the front than the rear.

just wondering now if i need to use a bodylift to move the wheels away far enough away without worrying about touching

only an inch or so lift may be required ??

Shock absorber wont effect height. Drivers side needs a quick tweak up then. Also there's a seam on the inner wing that needs a good twatting with a hitting stick for the last 10mm of clearance :sly
Good call on the bump stops :thumbs Yep they're part of the suspension when all loaded up, but still not relevant to unladen ride ht. By the way, I've got some bump stops if you want :naughty

88 front and 90 rear sounds very near spot on to me :D Is it unladen?
There is a proper way of doing the ht in the manual but it confuses the hell out of me
Check it again side to side and adjust the front if needed. I ran 33s on mine without a body lift and 305 wide tyres too :thumbs

i know the seem your taliking about that has been whacke flat already its catching the actual boby right on the corner but only drivers side and both sides seem the same height ?

would a body lift cure my wheel rubbing problem ?:lol

.

i think they are fine there doesnt seem to be any excess movement there.

the track rods are a little slack and could do with changing mind you.

how hard is the body lift to do ? i only really want about an inch or so lift

ive read a few posts about the bolts being a pig to remove ?

do they have to be completlt taken out and how do you lift the body away from the chassis in order to fit the spacers in ?

I thought there was a download on it but cant find it now :doh
I did mine and it was straight forward, but then mine doesn't have any old plastic tat in the way, like bumpers :lol
LWB has 10 bolts I think and they'll all need to come out. Then your required spacer put in and then longer bolts to suit go back in.
Lift the body up with a hi-lift jack or maybe a little scissor jack between the chassis and the body
Have a search there must be a thread on here somewhere on it
