OK, this is my first post (hello everyone) and I'm venting my anger and frustration, as well as giving a warning to others.

Bought a CD off ebay, advert stated it 'covered all R20 series Terranos from 1993' and for an extra few pounds get the spares CD thrown in.

Cd's duly arrive, nicely packaged, no complaints there, BUT, they only cover the later 2.7 and 3.0 diesels! I have a 2.4 petrol (because you can get one for about 1-1.5 grand cheaper, with less miles on than you'd pay for an equivalent diesel and I have Scottish blood [and I won't be doing many miles]).

Emailed the guy to say it doesn't do as it says on the tin (twice), and he eventually replies, 'not his fault, he's not responsible for what Nissan include in it's manuals (I bet he doesn't have the copyright to re-produce Nissan products), and anyway, I would only need the details of the engine if I was doing a full strip down, and if I was, I could always follow the information given for the 3.0L petrol, which would be nearly identical and was on the disk'.

Yes, you read that right, 3.0L petrol. Never heard of one either, and it wasn't on the disk anyway.

So I've (politely) replied that in all my 14 years as a Nissan employee, and a member of THE club, I'd never heard of a 3.0L petrol and that if there was the details would be all wrong for fuel injection and timing etc.

Since I've paid by paypal, I will get a refund eventually, since the goods aren't as advertised, but I think it's worth checking before you buy a CD off ebay, as it didn't even cover the earlier 2.7 diesel.

i sell the correct nissan cd manual for the 2.7TDI and 3.0TDI /ZDI not 2.4 petrol or 3.0ltr petrol,

most of us use it for most if not all repairs, £5 inc postage, pm if you need one.

Thanks for the offer, but I'd like one for the 2.4, the engine is just too different from the oil-burners, not to mention the fuel and ignition systems. The running gear is probably the same though, knowing the way Nissan used to build cars (every grade we built used to have a different wiring loom for starters), it's not a dead cert!

There was someone selling one on ebay who said theirs covered the 2.4 so I'll try again, or if any one else has one for the 2.4 they can sell me I'd be interested.

as far as we know there is not a nissan cd for the 2.4 models, but i stand to be corrected,

There probably isn't one, officially, I do wonder where these manuals originate from. If a hard copy costs in the region of £50 I can't see the Nissan penny counters selling CDs for a few quid, at a wild guess I would say someone must, at some point, copy them and sell them on.

I'm not trying to slander anyone here, there are bound to be copyright issues though, I just wonder how these things get into circulation.

And I'm not complaining either, all Motor Manufacturers would rather we drove our cars into their franchised dealers for every little thing, they would love the monopoly on it, but I think a lot of us like to get the spanners out and do things ourselves.

more on cd manual

Hi Guys

Got the cd manual on R20 series a pal just sent it to me is this the one thats ok for my mistral.........you know for use by my garage if need be, cos i havnt got a clue about doing it myself :bang:

Cliff

it is not the exact one and but will cover most of it, the one you have is for the TDI and your is the earlier TD,

autobox section should be fairly the same if not the same.

they never did one for the TD on cd rom

Well I managed to get some info on CD for my 2.4 quite by chance.

I bought a cd off ebay for my Citroen C3 (my get to work car, 64mpg would you believe?) and it turned out to be a general workshop manual with service data for dozens of different cars. It doesn't go into a full strip down, but has electrical schematics, trouble shooting and service items, so I was pleased with that. In fact it had more about the Terrano than it did for the C3. Which was nice.

The guy I bought the Terrano cd from offered me a refund as it didn't cover all models.

Haynes Response re: Mistral

Dear Mr Macarthur

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding a Service and Repair Manual for your vehicle. Unfortunately, we do not produce a Manual for this particular model and have no plans to do so within the foreseeable future as we do not cover Japanese Imports.

However, all customer requests are recorded and used in the decision making process of future Manual publications/updates.

You could try contacting your local dealer to see if he can be of assistance.

Subject: Nissan Mistral (Import) Uk Version = Terrano

Hello,

I’m looking for a manual for my Nissan Mistral (Import) 1995

It is the same model as the Nissan Terrano (UK) R20 model I Believe.

Do you have anything along these lines?

Thanks.

Rob

hummingbird has posted a link recently to a free online one you can print as when you like

Thanks

Thanks _ i've seen that and will have a quick gander to see about the oil change procedure.

However - I'd like to have a copy for my own use. You never know when these things might dissapear. Most likey when you want it most!

MM.

can it not be downloaded and stored on your pc for future reference?
mind you most of this site is like a manual lol

I guess - I have to confess however - I'm a bit of a stickler for doing things by the book. I like everything to be kosher and I'm not sure about the legalities of this.

Not that I can be sure that a purchased CD would give me material rights to the contents? However - the onus is on the seller then to make sure that they have the right to sell...

Sorry - it's my Christian beliefs/upbringing. :?

p.s. I'm not judgemental about choices other people make. It's just my personal preference thats all.
