Middle heater vents

Hi all. Well after joining I've saved myself a fair few quid. Having a problem with the heater, all the others blow nice and hot apart from the two above the radio which is stone cold. This is the same on normal air or reserc. Any ideas? .Daz

Yes, it is normal, and very annoying in the cold weather, as they do not turn off completely, so leave you with a freezing hand.

Mine do also, slightly warm air comes out, not as warm as the side vents though

Your's will be getting heated by the stereo!

It looks like a coffee cup holder but it isn't, gravity don't have to try too hard with those things.

Even with cold centre vents we are still better off sat in the cab of a Terrano than a Defender, they're much colder:thumbs

Where we're they fitted? Might try fitting them.

That's slightly annoying then ESP when it was really cold outside as there is always a little bit of cold air coming thru. I might just totally block them up if it annoys me that much

What is slightly confusing now I think of it though, is when I had my Aircon re-gassed, I am sure he measured the temp of the air coming out of the centre vents, to check it was working properly!!

Does the Cold Aircon air come out of them?

Dunno, all the aircon on mine does is illuminate the blue button! Never noticed any chilling effect at all. Maybe one day I'll regas it.

Try it out, set temp to baltic with fan on max and air con on. After ten minutes, if you can still feel anything, is the air from centre vents warmer or colder than the rest?

No air con on mine. I'd rather it blow cold than hot all the time tho. I'm off to get my rear window tinted now as the previous owner tried to do it and failed badly!

they are refered to as comfort mix vents(or words to that effect)so when you need the heater on to de mist the screen but its too hot in the car you can put cold air into the car to keep you comfotable.
thought thats what the windows where for
i point mine up in the winter then the cold draught dont annoy me when driving.

I place my Sat nav and mobi Phone above the middle vents, because its always cold air it stop them from cooking to death when i have them running.

My phone use to shut off after a day in the lanes being used for Mem Maps cos it got so hot, now it runs alday long.

If you set the heater to the vent position they blow hot. if not selected they blow cold. You should be able to close them off. if not take the surround out and fit new foam rubber where the vent fits into the pipe. This joint is where the cold air leaks from.

and mine too,apart from when the aircon is on
