Any one fitted mechanical diesel pump to a later t2 I realise it'll need cable and foot pedal. But is it as easy as that. I know it'll need to be timed etc but is it a question of just getting mechanic low pump and fitting it

I responded to your other thread. Think this conversion would be massive as there is no ecu on the mechanical pump set up and injection system is different. :thumb2

That's what I needed to know. So injection system is different think I could sell my spare engine and grab an early engine complete just an idea at moment

The MOD did this, there was a new shape for sale with the non I/C engine in recently. :thumb2

It is a very common conversion here in australasia as our fuel is not as the quality isnt as good as europe etc. If converting an automatic you will need to use the mechanical injector pump from an auto as the eti systems tps is incorperated into the fly by wire foot pedal, which you will be removing from the pedal assembly as it A. Blocks the way for the accelerator cable through the firewall and B. Becomes redundant once the pump is changed.
Secondly your tachometer will stop working as the pulse signal is sourced from the eti injector pump.
The diagnostic system will become redundant... his also ncludes the codes for an auto trans.
Things not. To worry about anymore.
Engine check light, afm, knock sensors, two pin temp sensor, no one lift sensor, egr system will stop working, glow plug light will stop workingon instrument cluster(but glow plugs still work as normal)

Any thing else you may have concerns about just ask.

Sounds like a walk in the park :augie

I would love a mechanical pump so I could wind it right up :sly

Then expect to be buying a new engine...go right ahead melt ya pistons. Only need a quarter turn of the fuel limit screw before 1000 degree egt's come in to play
