Hello folks, I am looking to get back into a 4x4 after 10 years away from them , and near me is a Maverick TDI that won't run properly ( I'd like to buy it if I can find a fix for it 1st), I am good with the spanners but not great with electronics.
So, it will start on the key but not great when cold, and you can only rev it up about 3 times and then it will only sit and idle; nothing else. After a bit of experimentation it was discovered that if you flick the key off and on again quickly before the engine stops, you can make it rev another few times, then back to idling.
Now, the MAF is brand new, crankshaft sensor new, fuel filter new, in fact the filter head was bypassed altogether and fuel fed in from a small jar, but no difference. The injector pump was removed and sent to a specialist for checking, nothing wrong.
It's been to a main dealer but no codes show up during diagnostics; however it was discovered that 5 volts were going to somewhere that they shouldn't be ( its almost a year ago so no-one can remember exactly what this was) but dealer said that they wouldn't guarantee that a new ecu would cure the trouble.
I'm willing to invest a bit of time into it. Hopefully some of you folks can give me a bit of a hand on this one. Thanks in advance for any assistance, and I apologise if this ought to have been in the electrical forum.
