Hello all, I just wanted to check something.

If for whatever reason, you had to remove or adjust the standard torsion bars on a Mav, are there any indicators (marks or indents) on the torsion bar splines and receiving mount to show where they are to be replaced, so that the suspension lift on both sides are equal? Or would this be something that the mechanic or owner would have to deal with themselves?

If this has been explained before, sorry!

Thanks muchly

There are no marks or master splines on the torsion bars, only a L & R on the end denoting Left and right bar.
If they are removed without marking them up yourself, the arm at the rear is supposed to be put on at a certain angle, and the height calculated from measuring from a point on the lower front wishbones.
Its all in the workshop manual cd if you have one, if you don’t have one then there is a link to one online on here somewhere, or if you prefer I could email you the section.

The easiest way to mark them would be a drop of paint or use a centre punch on the torsion bar & it's holder

did put k seris back together with cams wrong way round think worst pile poo ever did was alpha balancer shafts alsorts hadnt seen them since v4 transits!

Thanks for that everyone - I'll have a look through the manual.

Cheers!!
