Hello, i am new on the forum and was wondering if anyone new a place that does side steps and an a bar to fit a 2002 2.0 xlt Ford Maverick? I have tried ebay and loads of internet search engines but cant seem to have any luck. Thanks

Thanks for reply, it lists the items for maverick mk1 and mk2, mine is a mk3 isnt it?

Yes, they are the same shape as mine so is mine a maverick 2 or 3?

yours is a different to alot of ours as I think yours is a ford/mazda partnership unlike most of us who have the ford/nissan partnership  I know Cameraman has a V6 maverick like your & someone else has one to but sadly I can't remember who. I woult think they will be able to point you in the right direction for the parts you want.
Sorry for not being much help  but I don't realy know much about you model

Hi Danny boy, take a look in the gallery for pics of mine. Its the same shape as yours just a differant set up engine and gearbox wise.

Mine is the only one that I've seen or know of in this country that is modded in any way!!

The only place to my klnowledge that does side steps or A bars is www.4x4at.com the only bar that will fit yours is called a polyguard and is only sold by these people. You may see others advertised on Mazdas but they will not fit and the one on the other site that advertises parts is only a mock up.

Any advice or help you need just ask. Full tech spec is here:

its for mine, but you can pick the bits out you need.

You can see the side steps on mine and just about see the A bar

Elsewhere in the world the Maverick is called the escape and is the most popular small SUV in the USA:

I don't think there is any official designation to them, which is where the confusion comes from.

I usually think of them as

Rectangular light
Twin round light
Square light (well nearly square but mush squarer than the early ones)

and then the Mazda/Ford one which is completely separate, (I do wonder if it shares any bits with the freelander though too).

Hey cameraman, how much did all that flour cost to pose in the top picture cos it can't be real snow

Yes a red one, only other one than mine I've ever seen modded 8O

As far as I know (not much) the only thing in common with the mazda is the exterior dimensions and the mazda has the same Ford duratec engine. No parts interchangeable body, engine etc.

The only thing it shares with frelander is wheel base.

Its where I live, above the snow line, its like that a lot round here. In fact the photo was taken about 5 mins away from my house. 1 mile away down the hill can be totally differant.

Thanks for replies.

Cameraman, what side steps on the 4x4at website are compatible for mine then? Thanks

Type 2, bolt directly into pre drilled and threaded holes already in place under vehicle, take a look they are capped off in rubber. All you will need is one 14mm spanner if memory serves me correctly.

If you ring the guy at 4x4at, he will tell you if others are compatable too, its a length thing as steps are on a type of grooved runner thats tightens up as you fit them.
