Hi guys, has anyone ,who has removed the switch on the end of the igniton barrel, tried to take the actual switch apart to investigate the internals.Do they spring out . Can they be cleaned or lubricated !

Hi Micky,

Sorry can't help, I just got a new one from Nissan.

I guess by the lack of responses that everyone else has also just replaced them rather than try to repair.

Ditto - the contacts burn out and can't be fixed cos they've pretty much gone!; when mine went it was definitely terminal (scuse the electrical pun!)...sufficiently cheap to mean trying to fix it was pointless.

as i said this afternoon, not more than 30-40 quid and you only ever fix it once :)

Is it easy to remove the barrel? Or do you just take the switch off the ignition barrel? Do you know the part number for the switch please?
Cheers - Paul

id say it is very easy to remove the barrell. its held on by a clamp, just undo that, unplug it and out it comes...

recall theres a screw, the head faces into the dsh cavity so bit of fun
releasing it but few minutes after that.

if its going you might get some time back before doing it by turning
the key slowly thru the ignition phases, but ini long run better getting
one and swapping them out.

or if into 22" alloys and lowered suspension fit a stop / start button
but key will need to be in place to switch of NATS.
