Got the chance of a good gearbox from a 1995 lwb 2.7td maverick with only 42000 on the clock,would this fit my 1998 nissan terrano lwb 2.7tdi?.

Is different length though may need different prop also sensors are different also bell housing may need to be swapped for crank sensor

No best get the right one tdi gearboxes are plentifull ive got 3 its the td boxes that give trouble

Got one here cheap but def not low mileage and untested whats wrong with yours

It's a bit noisy when hot and in neutral but changes gear smooth,just a bit stiff getting into second when cold.

Ref stiff when cold have you got right oil in it

Yeh got ep 80-90 GL4 was thinking of putting in some molyslip 2001G have heard of good results with it.

Think it should be 75/90

Youre running thicker oil so would def try the right oil

Yeh, makes a fair difference in my experiance does thicker oil

Also most twrrano gearboxes rattle around the 100k mark

Mines done 150k and rattles deep and loud on idle, its pretty smooth tho, I'd not worry and just drive it mate, probably last for ever

Mine deveolped a loud whirring noise in neutral, I got a recon unit deliverd from http://www.4x4gearboxes.co.uk/

It cost £550 with 12 months guarantee - 2 years on still good

The guy I spoke to said the whiring noise gets progressively worse and one day it will suddenly make a very loud noise and then no more noise at all. they don't take gearboxes in exchange which are smashed up
