id crawl under there with a torch and shed some light on the situation first. exhaust is three (or is it four?) section, each section fairly cheap on its own, youll also need the rubber mounts, gaskets and probably some gasket sealent, so only replace what you need to if the other sections are very good..

I would just replace the rotten bits

If you are able to fit it yourself, then the middle and rear are easy, sections bolt together, you will need a grinder if the bolts don't seperate.
As well as the exhaust you will need replacement bolts, a gasket for each end, some exhaust paste.
You don't even need to raise the vehicle to replace the middle and rear.
There are many manufacturers in the West Midlands, but have a look at the Milners site for prices first then try your local auto parts dealers.

Tyre and exhaust places can do it for you at approx 2x price of parts only.

Cadmonkey had a special tail section made by Longlife. It was on his first T2 and it came out around the rear wheel arch area so it didn't soot up his trailer. If your still in touch with him he may remember about it or even pics.

well i was hoping to make the exhaust last till February but its gone bust now.
so i took it to MR tyre and found out that 300 quid quoted for stainless steel does not include the down pipe and he says i need that replacing.

he reckons down pipe gonna cost 150 quid i know milners do one for 35 quid do i need stainless steel down pipe to have a stainless steel exhaust fitted?

No as long as the bore and flanges are the same they will watch up fine.I got a full system for mine for circa £170 not stainless but that was the down pipe aswell.

final update

i found that my local autopart store was the cheapest option(ditched the stainless route) £130 everything from not including down pipe which wasnt needed, mate 2 doors and myself fitted it out the back of the house no ramp just jack and axle stand took a couple of hours job done well impressed
