Maverick 1994 N/S mirror

Hi all,
Having misjudged a gap by around 3":doh:doh my mirror had a coming together with a van mirror, van mirror survived whew
Anyone got one for sale? if so how much
Is it hard to remove the part still on the door?
It looks like the pivot broke, I still have the rest it was hanging by the wires, the glass is shattered but still in place.

I think I read a fix here a while ago, what is the trick to finding old posts?:bow

The mirror is really easy to remove, take the door card off and the Plastic cover behind where the mirror attaches, behind that is 3 screws and the electrical connector if power mirrors.

Is it the manual adjust type, all electric adjust, heated glass or not, does it have the hard shell on the front facing side of the mirror, or is it all black plastic?

To change, door panel off, then easy to get to the screws holding it in place 30 minute job on a good day, but while you're in there, worth checking the window mechanism for rust, bit of waxoyl here and there... job done.
If all electric, and heated, new are around £200

Window Mech is galvanized, is on the T2 anyway but the bottom of the door can rust, I waxoyled all mine before the rust started

Thanks for the updates, it is/was an electric adjust mirror.
Shell is plastic now with scratches to remind me how close I came to the van, the scratches start above the mirror pivot, another inch or two and I would have sideswiped him.
Is there any tricky bits to remove to get the card off or just a few screws easy to find?.
I will fix a reversing camera there for a while, I already have one looking out the back window,
Is a mirror required by law?

N/S mirror isnt required by law

Mirror Colour

Hi Stephen, the colour is black.
I have not attempted to remove the door card yet, I was hoping for a reply with guidance, I will follow my nose.
I have tested the controls on the mirror, it still moves in all directions so I guess its only major problem is the pivot and of course the mirror itself, it is still in one piece, well the backing is the glass is very unwell.
I will attempt to remove it now and keep you updated

Mirror strip down

OK mirror off, I stripped it down and think with a bit of luck and a hollow 16mm diameter bolt I should be able to rebuild it.
The hardest bit was getting the wires out of the plug, mirror end in order to get the wires out uncut.
Yes I have taken pictures.
My thoughts are to drill out the remains of the broken hollow pivot pin and rebuild with a nut and bolt unless I can get some of the star [do not know right name] washers that hold the spring under tension.

No doubt this has been done/tried before if so does anyone have a link:bow

When I changed mine I didn't have to remove any wires, the mirror loom unplugged inside the door.

I actually stripped the mirror down planning to rebuild it.

I may give that a miss and go for the reversing camera mounted on the mirror base, watch this space for pictures
