Have just finished a 12 hour round trip to pick up a terrano for a mate, couple of quick questions, 1, it is a 01 tdi but it has no egr valve? Is this normal? As mine does.
Also his is alot quicker than mine!! Is there any way of telling if his had been re-mapped? Would be nice to know if his is fast or mine is slow!! Lol! Many thanks matt

Erm it seems random as to when the EGR was fitted or not fitted on a truck with the bosch system.. My '01 does not have egr, but some later ones do! The combination of the throttle valve and egr does make them abit more sluggish at lower speeds, but with the pedal massed should be the same.

Your mates truck may have a tuning box fitted under the bonnet, along side the ecu, or may have been mapped, alll are possible.

Only way to tell for sure if you cannot find a tuning box and have no other truck to compare to- is with a boost gauge - tuned ones boost much more aggressively.
