I'm going to be making some bolt on rock sliders for my SWB maverick in a week or two to help protect the sills.

Anyone else interested in a set?

Basic rock slider design, But price will be as low as I can.

Basicly cover my costs and some beer money. As works very quiet at the moment so I have alot of free time on my hands.

Probably around the £120ish area. But need to speak to the metal suppliers near me before anything set in stone.

Jim I can do LWB ones but they might be a bit more expensive, Depends on if I can borrow a local lwb for a day or two.

Probably best if I get my ones done so people can see pics.

Yes but thats expecting all the metal to cost alot as I am not 100% sure on prices. Also got the cost of a few other bits. Anyway it's a estimate, Like I said not set in stone.

Fez I fancy some to actually replace the outer rotten sill :sly
Any thoughts?

Don't know whats under the outer skin sill, So its hard to say. But I am sure you can make one to bolt to the body as I've seen lawnrover type like that.

Or bolt to chassis but have it tall enough to sit in the sill space.

I remember you saying, But I don't know how he attached them.

I am half tempted to go that route.

PM him :thumbs

When I have 5 mins I'll run the grinder :naughty through the white pearl before I weigh it in to show you :thumbs

If I remember rightly :augie :nenau :lol You cut the front & rear parts of the sill off, then cut straight along the middle, bang them in & them seem weld the box section in :thumbs Job done :thumbs

Doing it to both of mine towards the end of the year :D

Cut my excuse for a sill off today to see what's there and get the rock sliders sorted at last :)
Suprised to find the rear end had been resilled at least 3 times :doh Anyway all cut out now and this is what lurks beneath

The front's not so bad but it'll all be gone later

Blacksmith is folding up some 3mm stell into a funky channel shape to weld back in. So will end up being a posh version of Tommo's .
£50 a side :naughty
Watch this space......................

thats rotten dot cotton

is there enough strong metal to secure them to? What sort of shape is the blacksmith making?

Yep you are looking at several old sills all caked in mud and welded here n there :lol plenty of good metal higher up
Forgot to take a pic of the template. You'll have to wait but essentially like a fancy rain gutter on your house. Then the top bit closed up:augie

Early version of the sill template. It'll be 3mm thick and welded along one long edge to close the box after it's folded. The long "tail" is the edge that will go right up to the inner floor of the truck, the inner sill will be welded on to the back edge of it. As will the two body mountings. The outer edge will be the long weld just under the door line, the length of the truck :thumb2
