A few days ago I read something on here about making an inspection pit and some one put a link up about a kit which you can buy as this is something I'd love to do. Any ideas where to order them from and prices ?? Thanks again

I saw that. Gotta say I was loving the idea. Shame I'm useless with tools :lol

Still guess I could paint it :lol

cant you just dig an hole.concrete it and concrete block the walls? easy:D

pits are bally horrible places to work in, but better than nothing I suppose, surprising how it limits your access, great for exhaust work but welding sills etc not good, Rick

I have a client who is having one of these pits and I will be fitting it in the next month or so They cost about £1000 plus extras like lights and seat. they come in various sizes I think the smallest is about 2'6"wide x 6' long x 3'6' deep and the biggest is a commercial one which is about 30' Long.:thumbs

it wont cost a grand either. more like 40/50 quid:augie

I could do with one to weld my inner sill on my patrol

Do be careful if you decide to build a Pit, an ex's dad wanted to build one in his garage, which was joined to the side of the house, and apparently he needed planning permission to do it (I have no idea why), but when the planner/surveyor came to check, he made him dig some test holes along the foundation wall of the house, and then refused planning, as it was on chalk and the foundations did not go deep enough. They were scared the weight of the roof on the end wall might make it slide sideways, and the pit would allow this, as the sideways support had been removed.

Like I say, it was an Ex's dad, so I can't ask any more question, but I know he was pretty miffed about it at the time.

Pits are dangerous thing's and i wouldn't have one in my garage, you hear all sorts of storys about fires and folk getting trapped etc!

Back in January i was helping a friend move stuff in his garage, a board over the pit wasn't in right, resulting in me falling through the hole, i thought i had broke my thigh, if the boards were any closer i probably broke my knee!

I know a two guys who have 4 post ramps outside, maybe worth thinking about?

I just drive up the steps at work:lol:lol

I also have 4 commercial ramps which I put the car on at home.
can sit underneath without banging my head when im working on the truck.
