Well you may have seen my earlier post where the motor was whistling at about 2 and half K on the revs and was advised it may be the flexi pipe. The bad news is the exhaust is all fine according to my local exhaust centre - they reckon its my turbo.

Also what is really worrying me - whilst the vehicle was on the ramps I have a real clunking noise from the bottom of the engine, maybe gearbox area but not sure?

I noticed it the other day but thought something was just loose as it seemed to go away but thjis was a proper clunking noise as the engine was ticking over.

Wondering if I have been sold a lemon and the old owners knew stuff was bad and I missed it when I brought it.

Feeling a bit sick now:(

well after reading on here - the clunk goes away when I rev and I have only 87K on the engine so I imagine its not as bad as it seems?

Also though can hear the turbo spooling - faint whistle so ios this a new turbo?

If so I have seen one on ebay for 135 notes - is this good and is it a job I could do?:nenau

Woah hold your horses! Unlikely to be the turbo. First check all the rubber hoses that supply air to the intercooler and after the intercooler as if one is split it will make a whistling sound.

A little whistle is not much of a big deal.

I know I should be on the stage at times lol.

The whistle isnt loud and the vehicle pulls really well, no loss of power.

It whistles constantly under load but as soon as you take the foot off the pedal it stops

Ill check the pipes first your right - do I have to take the intercooler off to make it easier?

Just have a feel around them, If there is a split the area could be a little more oily than usual.

right will do - thanks for the advise.

If there is a split is this pipe tape ok to use or best to just change the pipes ?

My truck sounds like a bag of smashed crabs playing wheelchair basketball, I just put it down to character.

Turbos do have a whistle to them, can you put a video clip up, so we can have a listen .

You don't normally hear the turbo when the engine is revved when stationary.
It only spools when under load.

I have mentioned this before, but I had a new front down pipe fitted last year, and then I started to get a whistle for the first time ever...
The garage changed the downpipe for another pipe, by a dufferent manufacturer at my request, and the whistle went.

So be aware if you have a new section of exhaust...

Lol awesome description.

My money is still on exhaust.

Mine clatters and shakes and vibrates.

Mine also whistles like hell too

Some one told me that when you have a new exhaust because it's all nice and clean on the inside you get a different noise but when the old soot and carbon builds up it goes back to normal ??

That's what has happened to mine.
When it was new it had a bit of a whistle but it has quietened down now after being on a while.
