okay, so i found a search about maf's which sound a little like my constant speed misfire problem(only started couple of days ago). question is...where is it, what does it do and how do i clean it or irradicate it? any help welcomed, cheers, mike.

It's on the air inlet pipe just after the airbox. Two wires (I think) attached to it. Two screws on it to take it off as far as I recall but they are some kind of odd security screws. If you can take it off take the truck for a run with it off to see if there's any difference. If there is a difference then the MAF is probably ok. Don't know if you would get a misfiring from dodgy MAF though more a deadness on hills or underload etc. I would have thought but I could well be corrected about that yet.

Have a look at "Mass Airflow Sensor Problems" in the download section of this site. It will show you a picture and how to do a electrical test on the MAF.

thanks guys. seemed fine today sods law. where is the download section? new here and cant find stuff lol. thanks

My 2.7 TDI has this problem at 2,000 rpm - never got to the bottom of it - tried new MAF - disconnected the battery to reset ECU, diagnostics come up with no fault codes. :(

Like medical advances, I am waiting for the day someone on this forum has a breakthrough

Had a more carefull look this evening since you said 1900 rpm and yep mine does it at 1900 rpm ..... nearly went into the back of someone :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: as I wasn't paying attention to the road ....... looking at my rev counter :doh

The guy that clean my injectors said that the hickup on my Terrano was to do with the dirty injectors. I can't confirm this yet as I have a problem still and can't test the theory with my clean injectors as my Ter is still in limp home mode.

Funny thing but I had problem other day sat travelling on m1 engine noisy sounded lik air rushing into engine which I put down to Efi also felt like engine was wanting to cut out making me keep revs up started ok on sun after 1mile engine would not rev pulled in bonnet up looked around and on drivers side of intercooler the rubber connector pipe the circling had slipped down and the top of pipe had a gap between rubber and intercooler, might be an idea to check this I've never come across this before.
