Poor mpg means I've got to do some work. First thing is to clean the maf sensor. It's a Bosch and has some odd looking screw heads. First question is what tool for removal?
Second question is for a reliable Ebay seller for when it all goes belly up... :D

you can clean a maf, just have to be carefull, from memory they are security torx, if you break out the center pin then a normal torx will fit

You can clean Hitachi, but not the Bosch, they are supposed to be self cleaning but do eventually fail, Rick

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!

Getting frustrated now.
I have just bought a set of torx security spanners/keys/thingummies to remove the maf and have a play with a couple of others.
The screwhead pictured has 5 points whereas the torx has 6 points!!!! :doh
What the blinking flip tool do I need?

There is enough land around the head of the screw to get some pliers on it. Once out replace with a a more conventional s/t screw.

Put a pair of grips on the screw heads on mine just to slacken it a bit then used a small screwdriver wedged in to fully unscrew them but cleaning a bosch maf just leads to you needing a new one asap:lol:doh used a can of compressed air for cleaning dust etc off computers on mine lest week on the off chance it might shift a bit of muck & it's been ok but any sort of chemical & it'll kill it which I know first hand:augie

he is not trying to clean it, I sent him a couple of non gen Bosch ones to try, so he is just trying to swap, Rick
