As title suggests I have on my off road motor a very good easy to install Maf amp, and it works very well, within half an hour at Slindon yesterday I broke another front shaft cos I had not appreciated how much more low down power I had, it was only when now in three wheel drive I am negotiating some more mundane terrain that I realised I could travel in 3rd gear at 1000 revs areas that before demanded 1st to keep the revs up, (those that know me know that I am locked in permanent low box) the amp is adjustable but I still have it at its lowest setting as I am puffing a little black smoke which is fine, no point in chucking more unburnt fuel out the exhaust, if this interests you then respond to this thread and if enough interest is shown he will have a pcb batch made and supply at around £50, which I think is dirt cheap considering the work and knowledge that has gone into it, Rick

So this just ups fueling at an extra percentage thru the range I presume ?

And I assume it would be even better with more boost added too :)

Would need egt sensor and gauge tho if adding more boost methinks

That's right, it takes the maf out put and multiplies it by a small percentage, but I will leave the more complicated stuff for the guy who designed it, this is just to get a gauge of likely response, Rick

erm well go on then :sly
It sounds like it does what my Tunit box does. Can I run this as well ?
I understood the tunit would basically do as you describe but will max out the pump pretty quick :nenau
I await more info from the designer or tester :naughty

It will not deliver more fuel overall, it will however deliver more fuel where and when it is needed at lower RPM's thus giving rise to improved throttle response (lessen that dead spot), more torque at lower revs and faster spooling of the turbo.

so.. where and how is the is the Tunit box is wired:nenau MAF or IP?

Neither directly, it's on the ECU , piggy backed on the loom at that point. I cant find the instructions right now either. I seem to remember though that it altered the ECU's air temp signals from the MAF and so upped the fuel supply earlier , I think.
Does that make sense? It too is adjustable from yes it's working to black smoke and slightly higher tick over (which is too high according to Tunit) I chose to ignore that and just have it switched via 4 pole switch to kill it in traffic :augie

when I finally get a new terrano, I will be interested Rick, cheers

As for air temp measurement, the Terrano has no IAT fitted, thats what the 5th unused connection on the Bosch MAF is for....
I suspect it may be modifying the control sleeve feedback....
Even if you have Hitachi MAF there is still no IAT.

Like I said I know nuffin' about electrickery :lol
Soooo, can I add your MAF amp to my Tunit powered Hitachi MAF'd LPG injected bigger compressor wheeled turbo'd big bore exhaust oversized i/c truck then ? :naughty

The simple answer is yes, your MAF via the amp will be telling the ECU that more air is going in so will increase fuel accordingly, Rick

Well, most likely yes... Rick's Terrano sports a Hitachi MAF.

MAF's age, they become dirty and contaminated even after cleaning they will not perform as new. When the MAF is in this condition it is much less sensitive to airflow, especially at low RPM's, amplifying it's output, at worse restores the performance to original levels.
In an ideal world you might consider fitting a new MAF as a service item every 60,000 miles or so, but Nissan have had your money and it's now out of warranty, your call!

Makes sense to me, I've got one to fit actually but in the midst of welding the gaps shut again at the mo :lol
I'll have an AMP anyway please, I fancy more POWER :naughty

How easy it fit?

Whats it look like

Where it fit

Very easy, 4 wires: Ground, 12V, MAF in, MAF out, thats all.

Small box, about the size of a pack of 20 cigs.

Attached PDF with details.

Looks simple

Hows it adjusted?

How far from maf can be fitter ( hidden )

The only adjustment is a potentiometer for the gain, easy to set up.
Can be fitted ~500mm from the MAF location.
More work, but you also could fit it adjacent to the ECU behind the dash.
