Hi all 2.7 TDi 2001 or there abouts
Can anyone confirm that this may be a MAF fault before I start doing the checks described in the workshop downloads.
Outside temp -14 startup fires ok but runs like a bag of hammers and misfires for a couple of minutes. It then smooths out a bit and idles reasonably well.
Set off on the journey which within 1 mile involves a steep climb it is now missing a little bit and obviously the power has dropped away but not enough to stop it climbing the hill at a reasonable speed 30ish easing off the throttle a little seems to help. Then the engine management light comes on but no further drop off in performance. By now the temp guage is up to working temperature. As we crest the hill onto the flat it seems to run normally and has no problem with the next climb. The management light stays on. I drive about another couple of miles no probs.
Stop the engine restart it the management light goes out as usual and off we go no misfire lack of power or any other difficulties. Will running with the engine management light on do any damage?
I have also noticed when switching it off it really seems to clunk to a stop which I wasnt sure it did before
Any advice greatfully accepted.
Regards Centurion
