Hi all,

As no owners manual came with our new Beast and since I have not seemed to find one yet on the WWW, I have a question.

The guy we bought it from said he was sure that the rear diff was a LSD. Is that true?

The Beastzinho is a 2.7GLS Maverick (1996).

While we are on about LSDs, what's the front diff? Open or is it a LSD too? (hope so!)

The rear diffs are sensitive to old or incorrect oil too. Always replace the oil with proper LSD oil.

Thanks chaps.

LOL, do you know what type of LSD it is, ATB, spring or clutch?

Also, are there any Lads out there that will fit/work in the front diff?

Thanks Mav96, that's one step closer to getting to know the new Beast.

Get a LOKKA from OZ best way forward Rick

Very interesting. I came across an automatic locker from Brazil (http://www.kaiserlocker.com/bloqueiokaiser/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89&Itemid=527) a few years back, but compared to this "Lokka" one theirs seems a tad on the flimsy side. On top of that, their prices were through the roof!

Banshee, where did you fit it, front or rear?

In the front diff mate :thumb2

Have a read here with some good pics on the last few pages

I don't think LOKKA do one for the rear, ARB air locker for that but they definitely aren't wallet friendly

Too ruddy true, those ARBs are a rip off if you ask me. I wouldn't go for them even if they were as cheap as these Lokka thingies though as I just do not like lockers that need to be activated when needed. Apart from the non-practicle side of things, they tend to have too many "moving" parts that can ( and do) go bang.

Those Lokkas are so simple, just what the doctor ordered!

The ARB diff unit itself is supposed to be bombproof, but there is the compressor that could break, the copper airline can break due to vibrations etc. or it can get caught or crushed, and I bet if the oil gets contaminated the mechanism in the diff won't slide over to lock or vice versa.

I like the physics of the LOKKA's and will eventually have one in the front of mine.

I think the LSD's are clutch ones from what I can gather and I found this while I was looking for info http://nissannut.com/projects/h233_4.9_swap/
