just curious as the odd time I have given mine some as I have been turning slightly I feel the back end nip up and sure its got one

If not how do I tell if it has apart from the obvious jack up trial :thumb2

IIRC upto late 04 they all had the LSD fitted, if you have a look from the rear if the axle looks a solid cast axle it'll have the LSD but if it has a removable plate then it's 50/50. Im sure my 55 plate doesn't have an LSD tried jacking up one side & the wheel won't turn I just ened up loosening the wheel nut off:lol but tried the one wheel on the road & the other on the grass & i'm sure the N/S wheel spun so still not 100% sure:confused:

Sweety, if you jacked one side and the car was not in gear, if you could not turn the wheel then you have a LSD, oh and the HB was not on but wheels chocked, Rick

Cheers going to try it again to make sure but the H/B was off & front chocked. There is no LSD sticker & it's got the later axle (c200 I think it is) not sure if the wrong oil would stop it from locking up if I do have an LSD or it's very lax in locking as it's only got 53K on the clock & it had a very easy life before I got it. My last T2's LSD was tight & locked up so easily:augie

Non LSD oil makes the rear axle judder on slight turns, as if does not have the LSD additive to make it smooth, so maybe your last truck had the wrong oil, only a guess, the correct way to look at this diff is that it does not "lock up" but provides a limited degree of drive to the non slipping wheel, this can be enhanced by judicious use of the HB, Rick

can you confirm what the correct oil is or does it have 80/90 with an additive ?

Thanks solarman couldn't quite remember as it's been a few years since I last had a T2 but that one it did have had the right oil in as I changed it a couple of times it was an over active diff :lol it never bothered me as it was just like driving my old modded Capri:naughty
