Lower engine rebuild

Got bad news on my girl today,the noise has eminated from lower end of 5th cylinder.Will see the mechanic tomorrow for the translated bad news.Looking at best option,whether it's worth throwing money at a rebuild(here in France not cheap),replacement lump(had the head refurbished not long ago),or sell her for parts,fuel/diesel pump overhauled,all joints etc underneath replaced,tyres etc.
Don't want to cannibalise her but more to be made for parts methinks
Any ideas/thoughts would be welcome

Big end gone,didn't make much noise but now need lower engine(my head refurbished) or complete or sell for bits and find another toy:doh

Think I have sourced a lower engine(choice of 2 for 300 euros each),just trying to verify stuff,in the meantime I bought a Vauxhall Vectra 18 16V 1996 for 300 euros as a stopgap,so hopefully on the up.
