anyone any idea where my fault could ly if the low fuel warning light on the dash is not coming on i have already run out of fuel due to this, the connector /wires to the fuel sender on the top of the tank seem ok,:bow

First of all, Td or Tdi,? as the circuits are different.,
Does the bulb illuminate on the start sequence? if not, change bulb :nenau

There have been reports of sludge or even diesel bug in diesel fuel tanks, that looks like black slime, this has been known to jam the level switch in the tank.

To get at the fuel sender, lift the carpet in the rear-boot area, and there is a round access cover.

Mine had failed due to a fractured wire in the rear loom :nenau Only found out when I was redoing my rear lights :lol
The sender wire from the tank joins in the rear loom and is gashed together with that corrugated plastic tube and miles of insulting tape. At one of these junctions the wire had worn on the plastic :eek:
You can check for continuity in the n/s rear quarter where the loom plug is :thumbs

funny you should say that i had probs last week with my rear light unit which i found was down to a bust connector inside the plug, might be connected as you say somewhere up the plastic tubing cheers will check:thumb2
