hi guys

well i final bought a T2 SWB 3.0L.....on the way back up the road ( to gods fine country ) from newcastle ....i found there was a lot of heat coming up throw the floor around the centre console.....it was bloody roasting.
There was no sign of overheating...matter of fact the motor run smooth as a nut...i dId the 200miles home with no problems......apart from the HEAT :nenau

Can anyone help !

Thanks.

my 1993 terrano gets hot round the centre console. i took it out and took the sound proofing out thats on top of the gearbox then went for a drive and discovered that when the engine is hot, the air that get blasted through/past the engine at speed heats up and comes up between the chassis and gearbox

overcome the problem.......ive got to say it was about 20c yesterday and i traveled 200miles non stop maybe it is just the heat coming from the engine.......i hope so !!!!!

it should be, your terrano is differant to mine but the heat that came through on mine came off of the engine, not the gearbox. the heat was quite intence but when we stopped, i could touch the top of the gearbox. it was warm but not hot

just thought, i might put some sort of heat sheild over the hole where the gearbox is to see if it helps!!:nenau

get the same on my auto, never worried about it tho and never had any problems from it

GEAR BOX IS MANUAL -thanks guys ..i will take the console out and have a look to see if anything is missing ....and maybe plug the gap with some insulation.......

When I used to tow a caravan I could smell hot gear oil from the same area as well as the heat. I'm guessing that the heat will transfer from engine to box. Only problem trying to block the hole is the levers have to move.

:augiesounds like you will have to take it through a river occassionally to cool it down:augie

seriously though i have had two mavericks now and both do exactly the same, why not try to make a shield that sits at the bottom of the bulk head to try and divert the heat another way

Look like am going to get some kingspan and cut/place it round the hole to stop the heat from coming up .........i was playing a CD today and the player started to over heat ...and then just died.....right in the middle of Dolly parton..................lol

lets hope the kingspan works.
