hi all : new member  ok here goes i need help PLEASE : over the past few weeks i have noticed a distinct lack of power on my terrano 11 se 2.7 tdi . and also in the mornings blue smoke coming out of exhaust and as if the engine has to pump fuel up b4 i starts . but my main problem is the lack of power on my jeep :( . i had nissan look at it and they said it my fuel pump was showing up on diagnostic machine as faulty internal jet [or something like that ] so they had it sent away to be reconditioned .. got it back 5 yes 5 weeks later :( .and it was still the same :( nissan took it back and had the pump sent away again but came back saying the pump is fine ... any suggestions what it could be im BEGGING lol .

What age is your T2 :?: as some of the TDI's had a mini filter built into the banjo bolt as I found out on mine & had been told there was a blockage in the fuel pump  removed the mini filter & things where a whole lot better  I wonder if your MAF unit is on it's last legs  Someone with a better answer will be along

hi sweety : its a 2000 model [x plate ] i have done the usual stuff eg: fuel filter , oil filter , air filter << all renewed and also the glow plugs were renewed as well .. [wow i wish i knew about this club sooner

HI sounds like it could be the MAF sensor, easily cleaned, try disconnecting it (plug on maf next to air filter) If that makes no difference to the running then thats probably the cause. Bosch MAFs on ebay about £40......... bri

thanks bri : i will try that tomorrow [ fingers crossed lol ]

Disconnecting the MAF may make a difference as it can be dirty and still working, just not properly. Look at the Downloads section for the workshop on the MAF. Remove the MAF and clean the metal mesh in the air ducting and then clean the MAF by spraying some kind of switch cleaner on to it. Made a big difference to mine. You can buy switch cleaner from Maplin Electronics, do a Google search for them.

I got my MAF from my local Nissan dealer for £45  When I disconected it it did make a difference so then checked the voltage as in the down loads & found it was down just a tiny bit  so took a stab in the dark & fitted a new one & what a difference it has made  If it hadden't of worked I would have just kept it anyway as it would give up one day

ok bri i did remove the plug on the maf .. but it made no difference at all to the running of my t2 .. what now ? does that mean the maf is knackered ? i also unplugged the maf plug while my t2 was just sitting ticking over still made no difference to the sound of the engine

Sounds like you've tracked your problems down mate. Try calling a dealer with your chassis number to get the exact type.

Did you take it for a blast up the road once you had unplugged the MAF :?: as mine made no difference whilst just idling
As Jim has said it sounds like you have found your prob so be carefull after you fit a new one as I pulled away as norm but ended up fish tailling all the way up the road    I have the old part number & the new super seaded number if you want to cross ref it with yours & if it's a bosch unit like mine & they try & charge you more than £45 tell them Benfield Motors Newcastle are doing them for £45 :p

yeah sweety i gave my t2 a blast around the streets with maf unplugged but it was still the same ... no difference at all ...so now im gonna get a new maf sensor ... i will let u all know as soon as i get it ... wanna take this chance of thanking you all .. i do hope that this is the problem  [ wish i talked to you all b4 i did take it to nissan which cost me £1650 for getting my fuel pump reconditioned... which i prob didnt need to do huh :( ] as i say i will let u all know when i get the new one fitted .
regards to all

p.s. yeah sweety mine is also a bosch unit

i had EXACTLY the same problem with mine. Just look at my signature to see what the new MAF did! Best thing I ever did was join this club

hi red .. ummmm sorry bud look at yir signature ???? [ ok im the dumb new member lol ]

if its an hitachi maf its easy to clean. unplug socket, unscrew the screws and gently pull out the sensor. inside you will see two filaments. I clean mine with a cotton bud soaked in switch cleaner or alcohol, do this and plug it back in....takes about ten minuets.... good luck.....bri

the line at the bottom of this box includes the words, "goes like stink!". its part of what they call a 'signature'. you can have one too if you like!!!!
