Ryan that has to be the lowest quote ever mate. I just cant see you ever finding anything cheaper. What's the latest quotes you've had on stuff ?

How can I when dad won't let me, dunno his problem but he's adamant I don't get it. :banghead

Does HE think it's too expensive then ?
I got my son's insurance for his first year's driving and that was two years ago now. £960 ish I think, and that was for a MK2 Fiesta, took us ages to get that and was the absolute cheapest we could get anywhere THEN. So that quote you got was amazing.
Maybe he's in a dream world and thinks he can get it cheaper :lol
OR then again he loves you so much he doesn't want you to leave home
Find the answers Luke:D

Pete is 100% right, Thats a bloody good price for a new driver at 17!

If you can't afford it get a job or just don't drive.

part of the problem is his dad poss knowing full well he can't get credit for monthly payments & doesn't have a debit card to pay in full either.

as i said before you'll need to either raise the full lot in one go if no one will put there name down to allow you to get monthly payments which may mean waiting, but then all u need is the cardholder present to make payment & obviously ur money in they're account. failing that take lesson this yr, do theory test & pratical, get a job so u have all ur own money for fuel, insurance tax, repairs & of course digs then when ur debit card drops on the floor for your 18th there's no one to tell you no u can't insure toby

interesting stuff. how are you going to pay for a second hand cheaper car Ryan?

cos if its via money-cash, then why not use that to pay the insurance on the T2? Its a very good quote.

I didn't own a car for the first 2 years of my license. Just get the license done and worry about insurance afterwards.

Whos actualy paying for the insurance if its your dad then a grand is a lump to shell out why not go halves with thr 500quid you was going to buy a car with
When you say you have a job does this bring a weekly/monthly wage in?
Why not speak to the company and see if they will hold the price of the quote until you have grafted a bit and saved the money
Theres a logical chain of events that need to happen the main one having the funds to finance it i think you are trying to run before you can walk grasshopper

That £1000 insurance is for when you are learning no ?? (sure we've been here before),if so, it will at least double once you pass.

Exactomondo, which is why I suggested some time back , drive as a learner for a year. Get 1 years NCD before starting the second year as a qualified driver.
Pay a deposit of say 300 quid then monthly the rest. You justneed a bank account. It's not difficult. Just a challenge in the head department
My boy did 1 yr learner 960 quid. Then passed test end of 1st year. Got the second year with 1 year's NCD as qualified driver. He has modified cover now for his go fast fiesta at £1300 :clap
That's the way to do it :naughty

all our cars are turbo charged, i thought about insuring our shitty honda jazz, but it's just too far gone, then Dad will need to buy another car,

think ryan just wants to get his thread count up:lol

Don't see the issue with a debit card, my kids had them at 14, these days it's what they issue as a cash machine card to teenagers.

Ryan, I know we're all old duffers (well mostly compared to you) and we're sitting happily in the knowledge that we're getting insurance in the hundreds for a T2 so whatever we say about waiting and being patient isn't really what you want to hear, but the sad fact is Pete is right, commit to being a learner for at least 10 months. Chat to the insurance company that gave you the quote as they'll often give 1yrs NCD for a 10 month policy and by then you'll have got the theory out of the way, and be ready for your test.

Alternatively, as long as the Jazz isn't getting sold/scrapped in the next year, insure it if that's cheaper as you'll still get one years NCD even if it never moves.

If you are hell bent on getting proper freedom (I know the feeling, grew up in remote Aberdeenshire and had to get a moped on 16th birthday to get OUT!) then spend a day or so go comparing your insides out on every different car/variant out there to find out what is considered the lowest risk for you in your area. Odd cars can come up cheaper than expected and don't just rely on insurance groups as they all use their own these days.

the quote he got was for passed, thats what he said anyway :nenau

I paid £700 insurance when I passed my test in 1996, but that was for a fiesta xr2 then I had a golf gti that was £750, so a Terrano at a grand is a no brainer !!!

I paid £70 a month insurance and I only earned £150 a week then as well ffs, plus my bloody loan to buy all these cars, that was £150 a month
