Hi, I have a terrano 11 van, which, as far as I can make out, will not be affected by the new emission zone regs coming in next Jan. BUT, and this a BIG BUT, I don't trust these buggers one bit! It says on their site that the information might not be correct so..... can anybody tell me what the gross unladen weight of my van is please? I can't make any sense of the figures on my vin plate under the bonnet as the writing seems to have worn away. The weights are still there but, I don't know what figure is what?
can't find any info on the reg cert either. just keeping my fingers crossed at the moment and don't really want to find out!

I do not think yours can go into the Zone without paying as only engines conforming with euro 4 will be permitted without extra payment. Yours is a commercial vehicle.

According to the site my d22 is o.k. but it is not .
I left London for Shrewsbury to avoid this sort of rubbish after the introduction of the charging zone.(and because its a lot nicer place to live)

tfl web site checker

i posted about this ages ago just put your reg number into the reg checker on the tlf web site it will tell you if it conforms or not i had to sell my perfectly good work van and buy a newer one because of this crap i dont go into london but live 3 miles inside the m25 which is where the emission zone starts

Yes, I've checked it on the TFL website but, I've been hearing different stories from different people... Anyway, I rang TFL today and asked them to check my vehicle due to the conflicting advice I've been receiving.

My Terrano is EXEMPT from the LEZ!!!! Even though it is technically a commercial vehicle, it is classed as a '4x4 light utility vehicle', not a van [he told me it's an estate!] so that was a turn up for the books. I'm still not convinced though..........

then it is exempt

well if its showing up as exempt then it is you will not be 1 of the many thousands of people getting LEZ fine in the post from the LEZ cameras they have been installing on every road into London for the last 5 years there linked to the TFL data base and will issue automatic fines

gather LEZ, great name! will hit some larger motor homes over 3500kg gross.

cant say ever seen a mk2 van before, are you sure it really is, or a 3 door
estate, van'ised by the aftermarket.

only seen mk3 and mk4 vans on here.

and theres more

gather LEZ, great name! will hit some larger motor homes over 3500kg gross.

people with motor homes have been hit very hard in london there are all sorts of horror stories out there, what many dont realise is if you just drive into the LEZ to visit or passing threw you will need to pay a daily charge of £100

its bizarre, saw map from caravan club,

gather m25 is outer limit on safe side but can go
down m4 to heathrow, but not into heathrow?

so would get shafted picking someone up which
is amusing considering the air quality from the
planes round there anyway.

theres so much inconsistancy in this whole
emissions and road tax thing too.

2 trucks same engine and polution yet built
years apart and newer one pays more rfl.

then all these new cars that are virtually free
on road fund licence, lovely if can afford but
how much energy was used making them
versus keeping older and acceptably clean
motors on the road. meanwhile rest of planet
still burning coal and others not caring a
jot about emmisions, that we all 'enjoy'.

But seriously, who cares about giant motorhomes? If you can afford to be blocking traffic with one you can afford to pay......

I pity the lezzers......

Bollox logic with all this stuff though, just like the Severn Bridge. Apparently ALL Land Rovers, irrespective of type/design are classed as CARS, a pickup is twice the toll price unless you fit a hardtop, in which case it mysteriously becomes a CAR, and if you put the seats down in your Renault Twingo, it apparently morphs into a VAN......confused yet?

But since I can drive my fully loaded LWB T2 over, dragging a 4-metre twin-axle trailer and have it classed as a CAR (?!) I don't give a flying f*ck really LOL....:doh

so where does all of this money go?
simple question really, anyone got a simple answer for me?
its like road tax, some newer cars dont even pay road tax.
what if we all had them cars?
who would pay for the upkeep of the roads?
would car owners then get taxed more heavily on the fuel or another tax that could then be invented " for the enviroment ".
this country to be honest with you all is going to the dogs and soon will be completly f@cked!!!
we are dictated to by a lot of sprouts in brussels, time for a change, enough is enough!!!!!!

here here

oh a common miss conception your road tax does not go to the upkeep of the roads at all it goes strate into the goverment coffers so

you pay insurance tax
road tax
fuel tax

they screw us all for owning a car/bike or any such forms of personnel transport i have lots of each lol a van i need to move bikes around for work, lots of bikes and 2 cars i hate to think if i aded it all up how much they are screwing me for and now we have continued insurance if you want to keep a vehicle locked up off the road mot and taxed ready to use should you need it or declare it sorn to avoid not having your old car or bike getting you a fine because you own it so need to have it insure even if your not using it :(

So even if you sorn the vehicle you have to have it insured ???
Surely that's not right!!

Maybe its time to increase the cost of fuel but include road tax and limited third party insurance, that way the goverment can really screw us all properly, but as long ad you have fuel you would be taxed and insured at the basic level.
Oh and they could really bend us over and screw us all over time and time again every time we fill up

erm

So even if you sorn the vehicle you have to have it insured ???
Surely that's not right!!

no i dont think i explained correctly,if you like me have a bike or car that is taxed and moted but off the road and you want to keep it taxed it has to be insured even if you have no intention of driving it otherwise sorn it then it doesnt need insurance but the tax disc is now invalid its a right pain as i swop bikes regular work wise i keep the fleet taxed and tested for when there needed but only insure the ones im using at any given point

Ah, I see.
That's not on really, just another way to force their draconian rules.
Where in the south east are you Dave?

yep

just the other side of the river to you i shoot as well but with a bigger bang lol got a nice 12 bore

Trust me, I have lots of bigger bangs lol :D
Maybe meet up sometime, the other side of the water isn't that far

drop me a pm any time
