Hi all,

New to the forum, been massively recommended this place by a few friends so having a punt.

I have managed to lock my keys in my Maverick, with the ignition on, the battery has been going flat . . . . i only rely on the truck for bad weather, like this!!!

so i connected the battery leads and this truck has always locked itself when ignition is keyed on. so you can see what's happened, door locked with keys in the ignition in 'on' position - i can see all lights on on the dash, but the doors are locked. . . oh and no spare key!! i have a genuine blank for key but never got around to getting it cut.

is there anyway to manually trigger the remote central locking?
i remember seeing an AA man hitting crash sensors on my others astra years ago, unlocking the doors . . is there anything similar??

many thanks for you advice in advance and please feel free to laugh at my stupidity . . . i would!!

regards.

don't think theres anything that sophisticated on these TBH.

given that your glow plugs are probably burning themselves out you might just want to prise a window down or something sooner rather than later, or at least disconnect the battery.....someone who can recall where the door mechanism is might be able to suggest where to stick a coathanger or a blade?

ZIPPY didn't you have some pics of the inside of the door with the card off or did I imagine it?

cheers. . . yeah, whipped of the battery leads again, for that very reason!

have tried the window, but seem pretty tight, that said, i can't say i had a good grip due to the weather, will try and stick some sort of handle to the window . . . .

oohhhh maybe, will have a search.. look under winows or speakers,

might show the area in there, but at work at mo and cant see pics on this work PC.

if member of AA or RAC theyll open it for you

or ask any "hoodie" thell get in even faster..

thanks for the advice, i'm not a member of either of those fine institutions . . . regretting it now.

i have tried the wire hanger and i cang get positive feeling for the handle open/close, but what am i trying to achieve to unlock it??

do i really have to pull it up or push down? its all blind for me as i've never had the door card off of one of these before.

i would'nt mess about with it personaly, i f you need the truck urgently, break a window and claim for it on insurance, or go to breakers and buy a drivers window and fit it your self, and once you have got truck back on road, get the key cut quickly, but thats me, :doh:lol:lol

Electrical section of the manual page EL-146 shows the door lock mech.

yep . . .

well means to an end anyway, tried prying the window a little too hard, and 'pop' its gone, will have to sort out a window for it. . . .

cheers for all your help.

This is the best I can do and its from memory so apologies if its not quite right, but worth a go.....the interior door handle has a long metal rod attached to it that swoops away towards the back end of the door at a moderate downward angle - remember the interior handle is about three inches down the door from the bottom of the window, while the actual lock is halfway down the door.

It then connects to a rotator about three inches in from the back end of the door and I think a bit above the lock, that has another rod coming off it to the lock mechanism.

So I'd be trying to get my coathanger (with a little hook bent into the end of it) in right at the back of the door, hoping to come down somewhere between the lock itself and the rod to the rotator, then jiggle it upwards....it might help if you work it into that space then move it to the right (towards the front of the door in the hope of hitting something on the rotator itself.

I don't think catching the long rod will necessarily help cos its pulling almost horizontally, but if you snagged it somewhere in the middle and pulled hard enough it might just come - I suspect thats what the hoodies do; its not that rigid a piece of wire. But that might need a hacksaw blade type metal strip with a notch in it if your coathanger is a bit thin and bendy.

To guide you to position, draw a line with your finger from the inside handle down to a point just above the where the lock will be. That should be the main rod...

Nothing to lose.....hope it makes sense?

yep,

makes much more sense now i can see it, but as i said, all a bit late now.

really appreciate all the info you guys gave me, it is a great forum you have here, just wish i had looked around a little more anc came across than manual i reckon i'd have figured it from that !! oh well!!

is fitting driver's window a nasty job . . . haha!!

How about this.

Get some of that fibre glass box strapping, fold in half with a tight crease. Then slide the creased end through the door rubber and push each side of the band to steer it inside the car if you see what I mean. Then try and steer it to the door handle and hook over it and then pull. It worked on the old door button type locks so why not on the handles?

Did you break the glass or just the mechanism? Might just go back in if you strip the door down I'm not sure.....

If you need to get in again without the keys, go in the little back windows:sly
You can undo the window clip from outside with a decent pair of grips:naughty
If you do pop it then its a doddle to fix in a hurry too:cool:

Dead easy to fit window just remove the door card lower the window down to bottom feed in new glass 1/4 turn from ourside lower into door turn it round into runners and screw the 2 m6 bolts to the runner no more than 20 mins
