I want full details on this, sounds interesting but not following it at the mo, probably as three parts to the wind, Rick

That's just errm naughty:naughty hmmm when do we get to see the black pearl drift action vids:lol:lol:lol

I find myself up late rather intrigued by the election thingy :)
So coffee in hand and brake flare tool in the other , I did this :)
There's not a lot of room for an extra hand brake so decided to mount the bias adjuster on to the side of the case .

Drilled a couple of holes for allen key bolts and got this ;)

I bought a brake flaring tool off fleabay and seems to work a treat :thumbs
First bit bent in place a treat:sly

I shall be bending some sort of bracket up tomorrow

Unfortunately had another long day in my client's bog
Only got a little bit of bending done tonight and now it's pissing down :(
Anyway, measured up what I wanted so I can make a carrier for the H/B assy to fit over the centre console. A bit like this

Used up some "SPARE" left over metal :lol and will trim down a bit so the normal H/B can work too.

Cut out the spare so I can get my hand on the std H/B

Fancy I'll cut some holes in the side too, just to keep the weight down :naughty

This whole assy will mount onto the seat mount bolts , eventually :thumbs

Mmmm so looks like a hand operated master cylinder with a shut of valve to hold the pressure, but how does this link into the hydraulic system? if it is just teed into the rear circuit it will just fill the master cylinder with fluid as the brake pedal will be in the off position, confused at the mo, Rick

Ah simple really Rick. Divert , not T is the key. The original pipe to the back is rerouted to the H/B cylinder and then new pipe to the back.
Like this, I hope :D

So,... do you end up with a hydraulically operated handbrake with adjustable front rear bias?

On my version yes. I've bolted on the bias adjuster to the side of the h/b housing.
Manual h/b remains for MOT purposes :)

Now then I'm confused
Started plumbing the brake pipes this afternoon but there are two brakes pipes to the rear axle ! It appears to be a flow and return setup. Is this the case does anyone know ?
3 pipes on master cylinder too. One front , one back, one "return" :nenau
In the meantime I did get the bracket painted and fitted. :D

The 3 brake lines go one to each of the front brakes & the third to the back which is then T'ed to each rear brake IIRC but know I had only one line running to the rear brakes on my 99 SWB which didn't have the load valve fitted this one has ABS so it's a bit different but again only one line to the rear & again no LV fitted

there seems to be various configurations to the rear axle with ABS, my wifes TDi has one brake pipe and one wheel sensor, while a scrapper I have has two sensors and a second pipe, no time tomorrow Pete as off to pay and play for the day, but when I get a chance will have a more detailed look, I surmise the problem being the LSD re ABS, Rick

No ABS on mine . The LSV has a "return " pipe on it for sure and goes back to the master cylinder.
I'm thinking just bin it :augie

How does the return pipe connect to the MS Pete? there are only 3 pipes one each to the front an one to the rear, with no ABS pump there is no place for it to go, Rick

Is it just my eyes or does that look like it's going to be a pain in the arse changing gear?

It's close but not too close I hope. My thinking is that when I might need hydraulic action, I'll not be in 5th :lol
When the seats are back in I'll put a bit of a bend in the lever bit, just to be sure :thumbs

I'll look more carefully tomorrow but there's a splitter block. Seems to be on o/s/f wheel and rear pipe together :nenau

Did a load of plumbing today on the Pearl
The return pipe comes back to a T block that also feeds the o/s caliper :nenau

The bottom block in the pic is the rear supply pipe.
Decided to bin the return and so plumbed in the bias valve anyway :thumb2

Used some nice grommets Rick sent me :D

All a bit snug but clear of fifth and just a hand's width away :clap

Real life trials ASAP :naughty

Also renewed all the fuel pipes right upto the pump ;)
