Low revs, low speed, low fuel pump pressure, so it could be dirty injectors.:nenau

At higher revs/speed = higher pump pressure, so not as big a problem.

The amount of black smoke could be the same, but at higher speed it could be being dispersed more.

Have you tried injector cleaner?, also rev it keep in lower gears for longer.

tried injector cleaner , no difference , ive had a look at this egr blanking kit i got , and ive changed my mind about fitting it .... it looks far too complicated for me . there is 3 plates , 2 small and 1 big , so its off to the garage to have that fitted if nothing else works .... seems i also have a " quick warm system " that may be the culprit too ..... tried kickdown and leaving it in 2nd etc , but doesnt make any difference , took it for a run along the m62 into bolton area and back .... still doing it :nenau

thanks for the replies tho

Why not just relax and enjoy driving it? I'm sure if it's a serious problem you will know soon enough, alternatively spring for a brand new motor of some description and rely on the warranty to fix all your concerns. I don't know if my 96 T2 is running ok or not, never look to see if there is smoke emanating as the correct place to be looking is through the windscreen when going forward. All I need to know is , does it start, does it go backwards and forwards when required, does it stop when needed, does it turn when needed. If it does all the above, I don't go looking for problems, as a wiser man than me once said, if you wake up looking for trouble, you will not have to travel far to find it. Relax, enjoy and have a smashing , trouble and worry free 2012.:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2
