The audible warning which usually comes on when you leave headlights on & open the drivers door has stopped working on my truck. Does any one know what is likely to be the problem?

Probably the sounder unit, does it sound when you leave the key in and open the door, if no then most likely the sounder, if yes then there must be another relay regarding the lights, Rick

I didn't know it was supposed to sound when leaving the keys in & opening the door, that has never worked. But now it has stopped working when I leave lights on.

The sounder is usually under the dash to the left of the steering column, with lights on test the plug for voltage, Rick

Sorry Rick, it is a 2.7 07. I will try to find it & test to see if there is a voltage there when lights are on & door is open.

On all of the T2's I have owned, if the key is in the barrel but off, when you open the drivers door the sounder sounds but less so than if your lights are on, I in fact have never heard it but passengers have asked what is that noise, and if you notice withdrawing the key turns the interior lights on as well, Rick

Easiest place to start looking is the front drivers door switch...

The drivers side door switch is different to the rest, as it has two separate contacts, one that turns the courtesy lights on, and one that tells the ECU the door is open for all the other things. On my car, it was the contacts in the switch that were very dirty, so not working. It's easiest to change the switch out, but I must admit I did take mine apart, cleaned it up, eased the contacts so they were a bit tighter, and then spent quite a bit of time trying to persuade it to go back together again as it's a fiddly little......

It's easy to remove just lift the rubber cover, undo the screw, and gently extract. You can then touch the wires against the body to see which wire does which, and test to see if one makes the lights come on, and the other makes it buzz. Then if there is no buzz, you have the fun of taking the bottom section of the dash out, to check the buzzer.

Mine has always had issues with the interior lights, keys in left in ignition, lights on chime etc.
It turns out iv'e got a duff timer control unit.
This is a black box which is fastened onto the top of the fuse box under the dash.
When i looked to purchase a replacement i could only find a complete fuse box so i have wired my interior lights onto a separate curcuit and left the rest alone.

Thanks for your help on this. It turns out it was corrosion where the door switch contacts the body :bow So a 5 min fix after being steered in the right direction by you guys.
