Hello
My 1995 Japanese Import Patrol Grand road has a non functioning RH lamp, after checking all the fuses in the footwell box then dismantling the lamp to get at the bulb I cannot find the issue.

Fuses all seem good (had to check all of them as the diagrams all in Japanese)
Bulb is good, even though not visibly blown I replaced with a new one with no luck.

Seems like a loose connection somewhere but was wondering team .....................

- Does anybody know the best place to start looking for headlamp faults and whats the best procedure for finding the fault, what kits needed (test equipment etc.....) and the best to buy?
- Anybody had experiance with remounting the plastic radiator guards on this model, the Haynes manual recommended removing the guard to get at the headlamp mounting screws (quarter turn for each clip), this worked but getting the damn things back on is a job. Seems some torsion over the years in the plastic has built up and the bloody things twisted. If theres a knack without shearing the plastic clips I would love to know about it.

PS- Anybody know WHY oh WHY Nissan would make the headlight bulbs so difficult to get too. In the field this job would be a nightmare and impossible in the dark.

Thanks for any help team??????

electrical side no idea sorry as for the clips do you mean the little black plastic square things with a slot? if so they have to be mounted onto the plastic panel first as you saw them before you turned to remove them and the they push into the hole and click into place once you have it figured out its really easy...took me about an hour of cursing

Have you tried using a multimeter ? You could firstly check to see if there is "Juice" going to the "Live" side of the fuse .... if there is , the problem would probably be between the "Fused" side of the fuse ( if you get my drift) and the light. You could use the "circuit check"
facility of the multimeter ( Take the fuse out ... put one probe on the power feed wire at the headlight , other probe on the end of same wire at fuse box .... if there is no break the multimeter should give off a "Buzzing" sound. Have you checked to see if the headlight is earthed properly ? ... Might be some rust or crap where the earth connections are at either end . or a break in the wire. Just a thought , as I'm no electrician !!
