Centre box(es) has gone on my T2 lwb diesel, reading through the threads I saw where someone had pieced it straight through to the rear box.

As mine failed its mot on the exhaust I'm wondering if I'll have any problems when I take it for retest?

Many thanks guys.

as long as it is not too loud I cannot see a problem, many motors have mods to the exhaust and they go through OK, Rick

...and unlike a petrol engine which would suffer unless you compensated for the box removal, a diesel doesn't need the back pressure. :D

Unfortunately you may have a problem with it on retest.

Could depend upon the examiners discretion but effectively the exhaust is an in one end, out t'other with no other exit for the fumes type of unit unit :(

Cant remember the exact legal terminology but thats the description of it ;)

if thats the case can I get rid of the dustbin under the back of the xtrail :clap:clap

Er what? say that again, Rick

Sober as..............

Reader problems :augie

Effectively your exhaust is supposed to contain the fumes from the point at which they leave the engine up until the point the exit the rear of the exhaust . No holes , no leaks , no breaks.

Simples (all round) :augie

So yes you can stick as many bits as you like in there as long as it dont leak mate :thumbs

i remember back in 1975 , i removed the baffles from my yamaha rd 250 motorbike ....... it went like brown sticky smelly stuff off a shovel :naughty .... but.... the local polik occifer , wasnt happy and said it broke some obscure law about noise :augie:nenau

Ohh it gets very technical and motorbikes are a mystery to me :D

acid test at the end of the day is the old hand (in glove or covered ) over the end of the pipe at idle :D

As long as I dont have to lug that bin around sounds good to me:clap:clap:thumbs

But he's just talking about having a straight through pipe instead of a centre box?:nenau

You should have gone to Specsavers lol

Vertical exhausts are popular on some trucks.... and legal!
