Where ave yo read that? In my years of Mav/T2 ownership I have only ever replaced a headlamp bulb (because the headlight got smashed) and an interior light bulb - thats it.

Never changed a bulb in 3.5 years ,buy good quality not cheap ones. You might havo to wire a resistor inline .

i did buy some LED's to replace the front Indicators. Needed a Resistor pack as well. But never used them as didnt seem as bright as normal indicators and these were good quality ones.

Even the very best LEDs have a narrow angle of view - they would also most likely not e E marked so would technically be illegal and would invalidate your insurance etc - expensive too comparedto bulb - personally I wouldn't bother unless changing the whole rear light clusters to modern LED ones say if I were building a winch bumper......

I'd stick with standard bulbs too, I don't have many go and I've owned mine for over 6 years. Thats it now, clocks go back and I'll have loads go

I don't know where or who told you T2's eat bulbs as i've found them to be on of the best i've had. TBH I was gob smacked the other day when I noticed I had a brake light out 8O 8O 8O 1st blown bulb in 2 years  Freelanders do eat them at about 1 a week well the guy over the roads does :|

Led's

Wow sorry if i have upset anyone,

When i was researching the T2 i found a buyers guide on Autotrader or something similar that they eat bulbs.
any way got T2 on 12/10 and the mot was on 3rd and 1 brake bulb has blown.
The led bulbs i have ordered fit straight into the origional holders.
will try and see what happens if they look pants then i will be putting a decent quality buld like OSRAM or the like.

I ordered off ebay for 2.99 for 2 + 1.99 postage so if they are crap then i havent broken the bank (IS that my first topical Joke ?).

Just have to wait.

Also got both rear clusters for £8.00 plus postage on ebay
Good deal eh :!:

Hi Brian, don't think you upset anyone mate. Anyway it would be good to hear your opinion of the LED bulb's. If you do have to buy any bulbs I wouldn't go out of your way to buy any particular brand. I'm sure there are different quality bulbs but mostly an off the shelf bulb will be fine. Headlamp bulbs may be a different case if your buying the Xenon style bulbs perhaps, I use those and fit in pairs as they tend to be different colours.

So what clusters is it that you have bought???

Led's and other stuff

Hi Jim,

Yes i know about normal bulb types as used to be in the trade and an EX MOT TESTER.

The light clusters i have just bought are both rear indicator/side/reverse
indicator/side/fog

I am just waiting for them and the 2x 36 led bulbs to arrive.

I also have only the transponder key for this T2 :!: and was wandering how much NISSAN are going to charge me for the remote key and Programming ?
Has anybody had to do this ?

Thanks

thought only iss going led was needing resistors etc.

that said ideal for additional lighting say markers.

sort of on subject saw a neat idea other day. we're
all familiar with thess screen washer leds but saw
shogun with a strip of leds in intercooler scoop. bit
odd as scoop was to one side of bonnet but reckon
on a 2.7 tdi could look better as centrally placed.

Led's

I like the soud of those...

Might try and make something with a strip of LED's inside the scoop

if you have any photos or if you find any i would be grateful

think you will find the led bulbs are ok but if you fit the indicator ones they will need a resistor for each bulb

So were your old light cluster duff (sorry just being nosey). There is a recent thread regarding fitting side lights in the brake light clusters, I thought about sticking some LED's in there. I like the idea of LED's for caravan or trailer light's too, in theory if they are soldered in there is less problems with water corrosion of terminals but this is going a little off topic I guess.

As for your remote key or fob, it really depends what sort your's is. Mine is the older transponder key with the red dot and no buttons, these need a computer plugged in to program these up so may be just a dealer. My remote is the oval type with a red and a black button, we have a workshop on these and are dead easy to reprogram. Replacements for these come up on ebay quite regular but I'm not sure whether there are different types.
If you have the newer key with buttons built in I think these are harder to program. There's a guy on ebay offers to repair or replace the electronics on these but not sure much else about those.

PS don't forget to let us know how you get on with the LED bulb's.

I've been thinking of doing that for a while as i've got a 10" red neon/LED strip knocking around
