I bought 2 sets for the boat, haven't fitted them yet, but they are very bright.:thumb2

Ive got some for the caravan and a strip to go in the back of the truck to up the boot light which is crap.Theyre really good

Not so sure about the value or legality of sticking em on the front of a car :nenau

Im out of date on DRLs and LED lighting but im pretty certain its not that straight forward.

Im also pretty sure all lights need to be of an approved type (like your headlight bulbs will be marked up)

Thing is they all look the same bt if one of Makeitfits friends decides to pull and dismantle you ;)

Phones and internet, superb research tools ;)

Im led to believe they need to be TUV approved and E marked.

The oem retro and std fit ones are energy saving devices originally designed for countries that require drl's. The led's do save a bit of energy over and above the std filament bulbs:thumb2

However it seems theyve been picked up on by the pimp my ride brigade ;)

Id guess theres more than a few boy racers out there to entertain VOSA on a quiet day :naughty

Yes but be serious Bagpuss, there are so many OEM versions who the hell is going to pull someone over for having a set? They'd have to be seriously anal to pull a stroke like that.

anal or not I have seen headlight and other bulbs removed for examination :thumb2

Theres also a good reason theyre tuv and emarked, some a just shite or downright dangerous, boy racer light bulbs for one example. Granted leds are fairly innocuous but theres a boy racer near us who will tell you how his washer jet leds ( what a pratt) blew most of his lighting circuit :lol:lol:lol

That was around the same time as one force were hammering down hard on the multi coloured decorative ones. The specific legislation can be tricky and ends up going to court so on the basis of KISS, look for the TUV/Emark. Worked a treat , local motor factors soon had most of his stock onto reduced and bogoff :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Personally I dont care, I think they make most vehicles look daft and thats enough punishment in itself.

they'd look pretty good on my side steps, wire em so they run on when unlocking with the fob and then turn off again when key is in ignition

Yep I got some from the same dealer a while ago. They are pretty good. I coiled a pair up and have fitted them in my caravan in place of a couple of the halogen lamps, hoping to save the battery a bit when not on the mains. Just wire them in as you would any other lamp with a switch and a fuse. They have + & - cables but no markings.Just flash them on your battery (preferably with a 1 or 2amp fuse inline) then note the polarity. When I found out which was which I just put red & black tape on the cables near to where I connected them in. I think I will use the others in the Patrol maybe lighting in the cargo area.

Now that is a decent use for them :thumb2

Done just the same in mine. Our caravan uses them for standard lighting too. The energy saving is great when youre on 100% 12v.
