I have been battling the usual rust on the ends of the sills in the rear wheel arches so had the areas cut out and repaired - excellent job :thumbs ...... but today I noticed the front of the nearside wheel arch is showing signs of rust again!!!

It was mostly a dry day - it did rain a few times today but mostly dry and the truck was parked on an incline with the front raised slightly. It had been parked all day in this position and when I came out of work and walked up to my Terrano - I noticed this nearside wheel arch was dripping water from the very end of the sill  and when I got down underneath to have a closer look I could see it was comming from the seam underneath. I also noticed rust spots appearing on the outer of the sill in that general area.:eek:

Question is - where is this water comming from? - is it possible rain water is tracking into the nearside sill?

Mine drains water out of their also just use a broken hacksaw blade to clear the holes all along the cill i think there:thumb2 are 4 or 5 of them

Yep :thumbs the sill drain holes get gunked up so poke them a bit as said above.

I know it's at least a month on from this saga ....

I've just looked all along the sills and I can't find anything which resembles a drain on the near side sill ... got a nice load of muck in my eye tho :doh

On mine there are a number of rectangular holes down under the sill near the seam. A tie wrap is better than a hacksaw blade as it won't scratch the rust so much.

I do wonder if the sunroof drains could be extended to actually pee the water outside instead of in the sill. Does anything else add moisture into this rust trap?

They probably can, I'm extending my rear ones :thumb2 I've never seen the locations of the front ones, bit discovered the rear ones when repairing rust

Pretty much all the internal panels will get condensation at some time (unless you do a Ryan on them) . That runs down the inside of your truck behind the nice plastic panels. That then runs into your sills
So extend you pipes by all means but it won't be the end of your wetness
