Hi Chaps, needs some urgent advise please,

noticed driving today I was having difficulties engaging gears somewhat, once I stopped I realised the master cylinder was empty entirely!!!

I then peeked behind the clutch pedal as its been clicking for ages, and sure enough its weeping really bad from that rubber seal that the rod goes into...

Does it come as one kit (master cylinder) or are they individual bits...?

I will ask the chaps at work to give me a hand hopefully  just trying to determine what I need to buy, I believe its just a master cylinder.

Thanks all :thumb2

Milners only list as a complete cylinder but its only £20 which doesn't seem too bad to me. Easier than faffing around replacing seals.

Alex I think I have a spare in the garden £10 if you want it

cheers dudey, I may take you up on the offer, only thing is, im sure Rick spotted and replaced this about a year ago? (memory hazey) can they go this quick? :nenau

I think we replaced anyway.... perhaps he just checked.

I noticed mine was weeping a few weeks ago when I changed the clutch pedal bush. I bought a new one on e.bay comes all complete with rod, clevis & reservoir. Still not got around to changing it yet so wouldn't be able to say how difficult it is to bleed.

just a master cyl Alex easy enough to change one pipe two nuts and the clevis pin, and it should not need bleeding other than the nipple on the cylinder, if we put one on a year ago either you supplied a new one or I supplied a used one, Rick

When I replaced mine it was just a couple of bolts that holds the reservoir to the bulkhead. I'd recommend a brake pipe spanner with the gap in so you can remove and attach the pipes easily, bleed nipple on the bottom of the reservoir

Cheers rick and cheers banshee, I can't remember if you checked in the area because I had pedal problems or if we changed, could have been a second hand one to get me out of trouble as usual

For the sake of twenty quid I'd be getting a brand new cylinder ordered then drop a mechanic at work a few quid to pop it on for you. You'll be sorted for the weekend and won't get ya hands mucky.

Ok you guys might be interested to know, milners sent the new master yesterday which arrived this morning, all fitted and bled up.

It's funny how you get used to things.... I thought my gearbox was on its way out... It's ten times better now! The horrid feeling and graunching is all gone!! And the horrid clicking pedal is no more! :clap whisper quiet and smooth.

For 16 quid+ it's gotta be worth a go. My pedal now also returns all the way back up :D
