Well after the torrential rain up here in cumbria i now have a drivers footwell thats wet. The truck hasnt been driven through any deep water so i believe its come in from rain, but where??? so my question is, is there any notorious areas which are prone to leaking, the tunnel area is dry and it seems to be more towards the door. Thank for any replies-input...

Cheers

it will be coming from the sun roof or via the heater or even via the rear door, check the carpets for signs of wet at the very rear, if it is getting in here it follows the wiring trunking all the way to the front with very little signs in between, if from the heater, remove the wiper arms and plastic cover you will see a metal plate to give access to the wiper motor, the seal will have gone on the plate, sun roof check the 4 drains, Rick

Yes it does have a sunroof, ive got a day off tomprrow so weather permitting will have a look, i know there is no wetness in the rear. If the sunroof is at fault would i not find moisture on or around the seat??

Check download section, there are pipes at the corners

On mine, it was the grommet on the firewall, in the the corner of the bonnet, under the windscreen wiper motor, where the cables go through into the cabin. I had passed a couple more cables in through it, and the water was tracking between them.

There is also another much smaller grommet down the fire wall, which goes hard and perishes behind the turbo, but that one tends to leak when driving through puddles.

Also, I thought the cover under the Windscreen Scuttle is a prime candidate for this.

depends on how you are parked, up hill down hill to one side etc, but usually seems to miss the seats as comes through the head lining, Rick

also open drivers door & look through the gap at the bottom front wing, it can get bunged up with mud n leaves, if blocked just scrape & hose out

Sunroof hose rubber hoses that drain water down and sort of out of the car. The rubber hoses push on to a small metal pipe coming off the corner of the sunroof frame, you'll need to drop the headlining at the front corner so that you can see. Not as difficult as it sounds trust me. The hose continues down the a post which is the door pillar at the front and then drains down in the sill area. If there is a large build up of muck behind the wing below the door hinges it can block the waters exit and instead builds back up and finds it's way back into the footwell. As said hose that area out at both sides.
Check the bulk head in the engine bay, you may need a small mirror as the brake servo gets in the way.

I give mine a blast with a hose every couple of months, and this keeps the crap at bay.

Thanks for the replies, just checked sunroof drains and all is well there, so looks like its wipers off time.

Again cheers

It was when I removed the wipers and plastic cover on my old terrano that I discovered the tin worm had been busy and that was where the water was getting in :eek:
