The whole rear of my car is soaked and it's down to a bad leak coming in from the boot lid.I asked the missus to spray the hose over the top,at the roofline and at the hinge side it's running down the reveal, but instead of running out at the bottom (as the other side does),it ALL comes inside:eek:

The seal looks good,no splits and all in place,i just can't figure why when the water reaches the bottom it comes in?

pics please

pull off the door seal a little, could be r u s t thats letting it past..

also

cut some paper in to narrow strips and then close them on the door. that SHOULDNT move if pulled. if thay fall out or move easy then the rubber is NOT in good contition..

also

do a search on here, as covered before

cut the rubber and insert some electrical wire round the top bit of the rubber

it worked for me

I had no corrosion and 100% ok seal on mine with a damp boot area.

Some dow silicon grease rubbed into the seals sorted mine. (if you search I posted a link and pic for the stuff :thumb2 )

Its been used to maintain aircraft seals for god knows how many years, it should sort car seals out :thumb2

had the same problem on one of mine.the rubber had split on the top corners.i pushed a length of rubber tube inside the hollow section where it was split then gave it a good covering of tiger seal and it never leaked again.:thumbs

Well,i took all the carpets out yeterday so am driving around with just a drivers seat,no trim etc.I could get used to it as it flies without thye excess weight:cool:

I have (did have),two serious leaks. The passenger side sunroof drain hose had fell off under the headlining and the boot seal (as mentioned) was letting water literally pour in and flood the whole floor.

So,hose back on with a small clip (same other side),and the fantastic wire insertion tip :clap and i now have a completely dry car.Just gave it a severe hosing and not a drop anywhere.

Regarding the boot seal,i just made a small slit underneath and used some small plastic tubing as i had no wire (think it's old vacuum hose).I took the seal off to get it as straight as i could and put it right across the top and half way down the sides.

Thanks guys - carpets drying on the shed roof now, just got to weld the floor and will be back to normal.

I've heard about this fix before but can someone please describe exactly where or a photo of this little fix.

right i opended the tail gate and used a craft knife to slit the rubber about 6" down from the corner of the tailgate.

a small slit allowed me to feed in a length of electrical flex , i fed in about 4 feet worth (with the help of wd40) and resealed the slit with silicon sealant.

Rear door seals

I had the same problem with my Terrano took a little time to find it as the rubbers were in good order, originally the rubbers were stuck to the body with some kind of mastic sealer, but this had lost its stick to the body and water was running between the body and the rubber, no matter how good the seal was to the boot door it still leaked, so took rubber off completely cleaned it all up (some job) then applied a non setting body sealer to metalwork and refitted the rubber, some of the sealer will exude from the joint but this is easily cleaned off, to date no more problems other than in the suns heat a bit more sealer has extruded and makes the top corners look a bit dirty, so what I have a dry motor. Rick:clap

So if I understood well, you have done this on the tailgate seal, not on the seal which is attached to the body. It's true? I'm asking because I have sam problem - water leaks in the boot. I have also some in the front RH footwell . Wondering if it's leaking in somewhere at the windshield or it can be the drain from the sunroof...?

I have had this from the tubes on the for drainage one the corners of the sunroof, though i beleive there is also an issue with a plate on the bulkhead that leaks into the footwell, there are a few threads on here about it if you do a search.

Have you checked the addhesion of the top body sealer rubber, if it is not stuck firm all the way water capiliaries between body and rubber, checked Briggies the other day and the right hand side was just begining to come adrift, no water leak yet but would not have been long, put some non setting mastic in there, cured, Rick

hi lift the carpets drivers side look to the left of the clutch there is a seam which lets the water in if the seam is slightly apart a good dose of mastic or roof sealer does the job, there is another fault on the bulkhead if you look at the moulding of the panel behind the pedals you will see a couple of elongated circles/ovals check them for rust press them as this is a known:thumb2 point of leakage too.
