Wow!!! That sounds like a serious leak, I have no idea how its getting all up there.

Check the fuel lines at the back and also if you look through the driver side rear wheel arch and look at the top of the fuel tank, with a torch you should be able to see where the fuel pick-up lines enter the tank, sometimes the seals leak and its runs down the tank or the rubber ends to the lines where they attach via spring clips fail or wear into the lines causing them to leak

From your description it certainly sounds like leak off pipes.

Whip the silver intercooler off (4 bolts) and have a look at the condition of those crappy hoses, they deteriorate and cause leaking, about 6 quid in halfrauds to replace, very common too. :thumb2

They run from injector to injector with a blank at the end that also needs to be replaced.

Have you had anything off yet? :nenau

Edit - not sure about that splashing at the rear though...

Sounds like it could be both sets of pipes leaking doesn't it Alex?

Good to see ya posting:thumbs

It maybe caked in it as when you drive the wind that's created by you driving and pushing through the air will be pushing it towards the back of your motor.
Whilst it travels there it gets spread out and some leaves your vehicle and gets trapped in vortex's of swirling air and ends up on the back of your vehicle.
Or perhaps you have a magical pixie who at night just p1sses up the back of your motor with diesel!

There is a chance it is a fuel tank seam leak, if the tank is more than 40% full, and the puddle under the car gets bigger every day, when the car is stationary, it could be the seam around the tank.
Mine leaked in this way, and it was the front seam.
I think you need to gunk or degrease the area and have a good look when it's dry.
The amount of leakage is huge, and from what you say, and what the other guys say, the more miles you do, the more fuel you leak, then the return pipe is where the problem lies.

Thank goodness it's not petrol... one spark...

My fuel lines sprung a leak the other week about a foot or 2 infont of the rear axle:doh Towed the caravan back carefully but was shocked at how much was splattered on the front of the van:eek: & even though my drive is on a slight slope (truck is nose up) fuel was still running forwards before dripping off. When i've had leak off pipes go often found diesel all over the gearbox & down the chassis rails. I would get under it & dry off as much diesel as you can with a rag & keep checking every half hour to see where a damp patch or drip is forming

Even if you can't trace a leak to the fuel lines, from what I've learnt from this forum, they're going to leak sooner or later. I would be inclined to replace feed and return from tank to engine bay. They're easy and cheap to do and then you know for certain that area is fine. I'd also be tempted to do the leak off pipes, again easy and cheap.

Future proofing!

Have to say I've been tempted to replace the lines on my project truckwhilst it's off the road.

So the leak is fixed 46 euro seals or pipes to the injectors (it was lost in translation)

Just washed the car see if it stops the caca going up the back

And hope it improves my MPG a little
